Audience Member Just natural as violence in a South American metropolis. Surpreendente! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Contra Todos starts like some Brazilian soap opera. A family and a few friends sit down for a meal. Soon they are all off doing their own little thing and it becomes apparent that everybody is cheating on everybody else. Other forms of betrayal soon set in. On the negative side of being like a soap opera, it also looks like a soap opera, with camera setups looking cheap and gaudy. Luckily it turns on it's head, becoming more a twisted crime thriller. The emotional betrayals make way for murder and intrigue. The twists also come rather heavily, but rather than being contrived plot twists, they are shocking twists on character. It plays with the notion of an audience thinking they know somebody after a short amount of screentime. It has many good points, and rarely any bad, but there just isn't enough to push it over into brilliance. A worthwhile film, if only for the jump from predictable melodrama, to vicious crime violence. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
