Daniel O Great story well period movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/02/23 Full Review Richard L This was a beautifully acted and beautifully filmed movie about a true historical event. It is a great movie that should be released on DVD/Blu-Ray. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A very unique storyline. I liked it and enjoyed watching it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Heavy but gripping drama about closeted life in Mexico 120 years ago; sumptuous period details, good score, and palpable chemistry between the actors helps immensely. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The first and foremost thing is that all the costumes and architectures in this movie were painstakingly prepared to literally bring the early 20th century Mexico on the screen. Based on a true story, Alfonso Herrera completely fulfilled his character as possible as he can. However, the storyline, feeling about homosexual and historical issues are not some of the top-notch things that we should expect. After all, the end of this heartbroken film really touches the weakest part of mine... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Manuel Betancourt Variety As a whole... it remains too stilted, like a painstakingly staged tableau vivant of late-19th-century Mexico and the patriarchal power structures that undergirded it. May 28, 2021 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News David Pablos' first feature is confident, timeless and staggeringly unforgettable. Rated: 3.5/4 May 27, 2021 Full Review Jason Flatt But Why Tho? A Geek Community Dance of the Forty One is an excellent film with impactful acting, excellent period pieces, and an absolutely woeful exploration of how compulsory gender and sexuality roles have and continue to be potent purveyors of tragedy. Rated: 9/10 Jan 16, 2023 Full Review M.N. Miller Ready Steady Cut Alfonso Herrera and Mabel Cadena give two stand-out performances. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 9, 2022 Full Review Erick Estrada Cinegarage It seems the film is either in love or too strict with itself. Sometimes it works... but sometimes that indecision is a drag.
