Ashley Ray-Harris AV Club Through the good and the bad, Def Comedy Jam 25 makes it clear that Def Comedy Jam is an institution that deserves respect. Rated: B May 22, 2018 Full Review Omar Holmon Black Nerd Problems There's something about seeing Black folk joking around in the same manner of as you and your friends yet still being a scholar with the manipulation of the way their jokes land and work. Audience Member This is a showcase of the funniest comedians in comedy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a mess. Not a lot of jokes. Lots of talking and thanking people. Badly edited. Drunk Chapelle struggling to read the same lines over and over is sad. Some funny moments here and there. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Vinnie R If you grew up watching Def Comedy Jam, this is a must see! It's amazing to see everyone come back together, pay tribute to those that have paved the way and make me laugh my @ss off. The memories that came back to me by watching this put a HUGE smile on my face. Must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/28/18 Full Review Audience Member Lame special with a lot funny comedians. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member It was a real treat to see famous comedians come back and pay tribute to what started it all. Def Comedy Jam 25 made me laugh out loud (for real, none of that "lol" stuff) and a bit emotional to see my favorite comedians in the beginning of their careers, and those who have long passed. 5/5 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A sloppily assembled, dispassionate thoroughfare; at a time when racial tension in the country is high, this comedy special attempts to play both sides of the coin, leaving the audience wondering whether the film was about comedy or politics, and if it was about politics, what the actually message was. The old footages are the high points of the film, while there have been livelier guest appearances at the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. And for crying out loud, can cult-legend comic Dave Chappelle at least TRY to look like he wants to sort of be there just the tiniest little bit? He's probably thinking he should've taken the Chris Rock route and literally mailed in his appearance. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
