Valerii Ege D It's hard to come across original villains in horror movies. Dread is one of the rare movies that can do that. A character who has a wild and perverted worldview from his own perspective hunts down naive people who don't think like him one by one. The movie could actually have ended with Stephen not getting in the car and saying good-bye. However, the characters are preparing their own endings by not being able to predict the limits of Quaid. Actually, I can draw a very good social society criticism from this movie. Because it is normal for people to approach each other more sincerely and feel safe in countries such as America and England, where civilization is prevalent. However, as someone like me who has lived in countries with low ethics and morals, I can personally understand how dangerous Quaid is from 10 kilometers away. When you don't choose the right person to trust, you have to bear the consequences. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/23 Full Review Al R Worst movie I've seen in a while. It wasn't horror, it was sadism. This tells me that the writer has serious mental issues and should be studied himself. Same with the director. I hope the ending wasn't a setup for part 2. Skip this one for sure Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/15/22 Full Review Audience Member Dread is based on a student film project taken too far by its creator, a guy who experienced trauma as a child and is recreating trauma for others. The premise that he is tormenting others to alleviate his own pain doesn't work well...and the film itself comes off as a student project. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review kevin c Based on a story by horror legend Clive Barker, this horror film sees a guy with a troubled past conduct a series of by interviews about peoples fears which leads to some dark and disturbing experiments he decides to inflict on some of them. Very interesting film that is very dark and bleak. Jackson Rathbone stars. Really liked this film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Unsettling psychological horror. Starts off well as it resonates with real life. It felt genuine and plays on the deep-rooted fears of people. It is not like any usual Hollywood horror but hold the attention with a moderately slow screenplay. The characters are quite interesting and had decent chemistry, It's rare to find horror movies nowadays where you genuinely feel sorry for the characters. There are a few jump scares however, the real scare is the concept behind this, if you really pick up the idea of this whole film it is really unsettling and disturbing. With a low budget it is a brilliant work, the cinematography is cleverly done and each scene is important to the story, the dialogues are good enough and adequate. It was a solid effort all put together but I could not recommend this to the general audience still it holds a strong concept but not for the faint hearts, It showcases human limits and the atmosphere it sets afterwards is really dark. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I read Clive Barker's short story last night. I was really excited about it and I was even more excited to find the movie when I searched for it. Then I watched the movie, and realized I've seen it before and it was generic at best. This movie and short story do not sync up the same way at all. I'm not the type of person to say a movie has to match the book exactly, but the best part about the short story was how effective it was while remaining simple and clear - it had 3 characters ffs! This was overly complicated, and missed all of the horror and DREAD that the story was supposed to have, just to turn it into a generic horror movie that was obviously forgettable. Anton Bitel Projected Figures a twisted psychological thriller that combines the phobic focus of Fearless (1993), the discomfiting reflexivity of Peeping Tom (1960), and the abhorrent torments of Seed (2007). Dec 1, 2010 Full Review Read all reviews
