This time she goes undercover at an all-girls school where a deadly incantation is used in an innocent drama as part of a sacrifical ritual. The quality of the trilogy has steadily gone down with each sequel. The story isn't that good and apart from a couple of interesting deaths including one by rose vines there isn't much to really recommend this movie. Those that have watched the other two movies will want to see this to finish the trilogy off but otherwise don't bother with this one as there are far better J-horrors around. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member By far the worst of three movies, this is a boring and stupid film, w/ a terrible, anticlimactic ending. No amount of gore (and there is some decent stuff) or hot Japanese school girls (and there is a lot of them) can save this crap. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This third movie deals with Misa attending a school to try to solve a weird death involving magic, and gets caught up with the drama club. While out in the wilderness to practice their play, something happens and they all get transported to an alternate dimension. I didn't like this one nearly as much as the others, even though it returns to its horror roots that was lacking in the second movie. Started off well enough with Misa investigating a dead body that called out her name right before mysteriously dying and then she destroys the parasite demon that resided in it, and then some cops talk about her and refer to her as an urban legend. But after that it majorly goes downhill and NOTHING happens for over half an hour. She goes to the school, gets on the drama club, and practices the play. And you'd think with over half of an hour of nothing but that happening, there'd be at least some characterization. Nope, none of that. WAY too many cannon fodder characters, you never really get characterization on ANY of them. Also, you'd think Misa would realize that the entire play was really a sacrificial ritual seeing as how that's kind of her area of expertise. At the very least, she should have had some kind of hint or suspicion if not out and out knowing. Speaking of Misa, she's played by a different actress this time around then in the first two movies, and while she's not bad by any lengths, its still distracting seeing as how she's WAY shorter then the other actress and brings you out of the flick somewhat, especially when the movie itself is boring as all hell. When things finally do pick up though and they all get transported to the alternate dimension and Misa has to try and get them back before they're all killed off, there's only about 20 minutes left in the movie. However, in that short time, we are witness to some truly kick ass stuff, such as a girl being killed by some evil trees Evil Dead-style, and even some zombies get in on the action and kill a couple of them. There's even some genuine freaky stuff in there such as a doll that comes alive and a scene where the walls of the school start bleeding. If the majority of the movie had been has good as the final 20 minutes, I'd say this would have been my favorite one, despite the change in actress for Misa, but as it is, only the first 5 minutes and the last 20 are really any good with the rest being nothing but a load of boring bullshit, so as it is, it's my least favorite and barely-passable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of my favorite films. It opens up the mind to lovecraft. It also gives way to creating a perfect being from nothing. :D Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
