mark d It's a bleak, post-apocalyptic movie that's pretty much all mood and not a lot of action. I enjoyed the scenery and the haunting soundtrack. If you're looking for an action flick, give this one a pass. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A dystopian drama in the style of punk, where the desert future is supported by wind turbines, protecting the survivors of ecological collapse. However, the problem itself focuses on the catastrophe that could affect the language. However, like the survivors, try to isolate yourself from this low-budget utopia, which tries in vain, but its silliness and slowness are tiresome, although the depth of the idea with detail and scenery is noted. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Well intentioned science-fiction wasteland movie showing its low-budget origins; overly melodramatic Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautifully shot film that sadly thinks it is far cleverer than it is. In what is clearly a homage to Tarkovsky films like Solaris or Stalker, a woman wanders around a post-apocalyptic coastal landscape in a future where the sea has risen and is now toxic. The world seems to have been split between two castes - those who live outside The Fence and those who live behind The Fence, of whom the feared Riders are charged with keeping those who live on the other side out. The woman's family, made of two children, her partner and his father live a life scavenging items that wash up on the nearby shore, hunting game and planting crops. The woman encounters a Rider and starts an affair with him, perhaps in the hope of escaping to a better life among the electricity generating wind turbines on the other side of The Fence, perhaps to just dull the monotony of a life scavenging and spending time with her miserable and aggressive father-in-law. And that's about it. A sub-plot between the Rider and another threatens to be interesting but doesn't really go anywhere and while there is a denouement, it lacks a sense of conclusion. The meaning of the film seems pretty straightforward, but as the credits roll after 80 minutes, one really is confused as to the point the filmmakers were actually trying to make. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty shots of clouds and sea. The rest is not far from pointless. The whole movie is like hearing "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence," over and over and then.... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Whilst looking great, it offers a really underwhelming story with a disappointing ending Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
