      Critics Consensus

Free Fire aims squarely for genre thrills, and hits its target repeatedly and with great gusto -- albeit with something less than pure cinematic grace.

Christina B Quentin Tarantino with even bigger doofus' holding the guns Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review Gero C I DAMN LOVE THIS MOVIE. It's genius how Ben Weatley manages to make the action last 1 hour and a half. A great director who also directed other films like Kill List for example. The acting is moderate, the dark humor made me laugh a lot, the action changes at some points so as not to bore the viewer and I feel that Sharlto Copley and Armie Hammer are incredible in this film. Highly recommended Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Chris O Underrated, nasty little movie. Almost like a play with constant gunfire. Brie Larson is severely underutilized in this. Her character wasn't developed nearly enough. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Tom G Terrible film, all those brilliant actors and they come up with that absolute nonsense. I hope this can save someone else from wasting an hour and a half of their life. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/23 Full Review James B good movie cool action alot of profanity and i mean alot and characters are pretty dark and grungy good cast though. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/01/23 Full Review Lee H So ridiculously funny it hurt. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Manuela Lazic Little White Lies Wheatley allows his notorious black humour to resurface, and with 90 minutes of mindless shootouts, he reaches his goal. Jul 4, 2018 Full Review Kristen Lopez Culturess Free Fire is a bloody fun time once it gets its footing and takes aim. Nov 20, 2017 Full Review Angie Han Slashfilm The third-act shootout is a staple of a certain kind of film, but in Ben Wheatley's Free Fire it's essentially the entire movie. Against all odds, it works. Rated: 8/10 Jun 14, 2017 Full Review Tim Stevens The Spool When the smoke clears, Free Fire is an intriguing visual Senior thesis. Aug 22, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Cartoonish and pulpy in the best ways, Free Fire is neither original nor an instant classic, but it's made with skill and talented performers to support the simplicity of the basic scenario. Rated: 3/4 Apr 4, 2022 Full Review Jason Adams My New Plaid Pants Super fun and emotionally desperate in equal measure - it's an action movie with life and blood pumping through it, in it, and out of it too.
