Audience Member This movie is really racist and feeds into the white slave myth. The idea that foreigners are coming in and kidnapping little white girls and selling them in some global sex slave trade. These narratives were used during the progressive era to ban alcohol, ban Chinese immigrants, and interracial marriage through the Mann Act, page act, and Chinese exclusion act. There is no global slave trade, that's just something America uses to justify building a global police and never ending war to justify their greed. Americans largely believe that wars and police are just a way to spread freedom and democracy and and human trafficking however it's completely false. Slavery was and always will be a systematic issue, Which means that it's not individual people who are kidnapping people and selling them into slavery that's not how slavery worked. Slavery was written into law and was a key of social, economic, and political order of the system. The only form of legal slavery that exists is in the US in their criminal Justice system and prison system. The US has the biggest prison population and dentention centers (that are prisons). A big reason for drug cartels, and prostitution is because the US puts dictators in power in other countries. They criminalize poverty, immigration, sex work, and drugs. This makes those people go underground and makes it more unsafe. This movie is propaganda and people fall for it because it's very easy to assume the worst from a place that is not your home. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrifying, graphic, and heartbreaking series. I was absolutely horrified to learn that this still happens, especially on U.S. soil. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/28/23 Full Review Audience Member This is not an easy story to watch. The reality of human trafficking is disgusting and this is a brutal look at that world. It is a shame that all these true stories couldn't end so neatly for the victims. Something that people aren't really aware of. However, disliked Sorvino. I don't think she is a good actress. Scott Weinberg DVDTalk.com Aside from being overlong by about an hour and dabbling far too often in a "preachifying" style of storytelling, Human Trafficking isn't half bad. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 20, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews
