Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Most of it, though, is of marginal interest, drawn out for far too long, and with far too much explicit detail about his sex life. Feb 22, 2019 Full Review Liz Shannon Miller indieWire Even if you're not a die-hard fan, he remains compelling to hear or read, and watching Silent But Deadly, knowing that this could have been his last hurrah, is at times emotionally tough (even as he packs in the laughs). Rated: A- May 12, 2018 Full Review Alci Rengifo Entertainment Voice Silent but Deadly is a pristine portrait of Smith's brand of humor, which is really an outgrowth of his very persona as the quintessential geek filmmaker. bryan b I normally don't like celebrity stories but Kevin Smith does it in the most sincere manner that it does not feel like bragging. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member If one doesn't mind the highly explicit sexual references and language, then you may find, as I did, this stand-up Showtime TV special to be clever and funny. Although I only like his humor at times, Smith comes across in this show as a master storyteller with impeccable timing, and he spins the tales in a natural and often self-effacing way. What makes this 2018 TV special particularly noteworthy, at the Alex Theater in Glendale, Ca., was that he suffered a massive heart attack backstage after the show, but survived it. All in all, I enjoyed this one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Nothing about this was funny or interesting. Merely an hour of unnecessarily vulgar language describing mundane happenings in his life. Topics included degrading his Wife, being proud of overuse of Marijuana, and purchasing hamburgers in Canada. Please get off stage and stick to what you're good at - making movies. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the funniest specials I've seen in a long time.. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member He's always hilarious. This was great, and scary, as we know they could have been his last words. Thank you Kevin! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member As a fan of all things Smod, I was excited to see this even though I was afraid I heard everything on a podcast before. That was not the case. Kev spins all new tales in his ridiculous oversized hat that are charming and chuckle worthy. The material was good and the yuks were plentiful. If you are a fan you will absolutely love it, if you are not then this is he special to convert you. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
