Three refugees whose masters were friends find each other, only to be framed for murder and have to fight for their lives. A pretty standard kung fu movie with some nice three section staff action, but that's it.

Three refugees arrive in a small Chinese town. The village is being ruled by a ruthless boss whose men punishes, beat, and robs the local men. The three refugees must first find a niche in the village, fight the local bossÂ’s men, and remain undercover. However, as they continue to make progress versus the bossÂ’s men the additional trouble becomes difficult to conceal. Eventually the refugees will need to take their battle to the bossÂ’s stronghold.

Cheh Chang, director of 5 Deadly Venoms, Crippled Avengers, Invincible Shaolin, Flag of Iron, Kid with the Golden Arms, Dare Devils of Kung Fu, Super Ninjas, Masked Avengers, and Brave Archer 1, 2, 3 & 4, delivers Killer Army. Killer Army possesses an average but slightly intricate storyline. The story is better then expected for a Venoms film but is presented poorly. The choreography remains solid; however, the story is presented at a grueling pace. I was disappointed in the film overall but enjoyed Toad (5 Deadly Venoms) and LizardÂ’s (5 Deadly Venoms) performances as usual; and the youngest Venom was solid as well.

Opening drunk torture scene including the knife throwing, the first fight in the restaurant, Toad beating shop men down in vain with one arm, the fight at the gambling location, the guy with the big hands, the killing of Colonel Chen and daughter, fighting conspirators, fighting Scorpion and his men, killing chick from brothel, the jumping scene, finally cutting guys down with sword in the courtyard, killing the disrupters at the hanging, Centipede killing Toad, and the last fight were amongst the better portions of the film.

Killer Army is a disappointing Venoms flick that reminded me a little of Dare Devils of Kung Fu. The upper echelon Venom films remain: Kid with the Golden Arms, 5 Deadly Venoms, Invincible Shaolin, Masked Avengers, and Crippled Avengers. Nevertheless, this is still an entertaining film for loyal Venom fans, just not up to expectations. I would say it is tied for the worst of the Venom flicks I have viewed to date.
