Andy Collier and Tor Mian's Sacrifice is a Scandi-folk horror, which is obviously heavily inspired by Robin Hardy's classic folk horror, The Wicker Man, Ari Aster's recent Midsommar and the works of H.P. Lovecraft (he even gets a credit).

The palpable eerie atmosphere and doom-laden Lovecraftian overtones promise a lot, but the narrative unspools quickly. There's a good deal here to enjoy, it's a great shame the hold on the story could not have been stronger.

Not sure if this is based on a Lovecraft work or not but it feels like one. More suspense-thriller than horror, a bit slow and doesn't hit the frantic notes of other Lovecraft adaptations and... I simply wanted more from the ending that is a letdown when you notice it's resemblance to other Lovecraft adaptations.

this is the worst movie i've ever seen. sooo stupid and oh so predicatable. its lovecraft minus anything of value, incuding elder gods. i saw 1 tentacle do nothing, about 3 times. theres plenty of stupid and useless debates on screen. this movie reminds me of shyamalan because theres plenty of suspense leading nowhere. nothing ever happens. abysmally boring, utter waste of film and my time. absolutely awful. i saw the sour audience score 40%, but watched it anyway because of the critics score 80%, never again.
