Audience Member NOT realistic at all madame c.j Walkers daughter was not gay also this film is another man bashing black culture dividing film that puts black people against black people while setting us back in the process this film is trash please do not support it read a book about madame walker and get a better understanding. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I studied Madam CJ Wlker in middle school and her drive inspires me to this day. Though the movie has good points and the acting is very romantic Tiffany Does a relatable job Octavia can never fail in her acting and the leading men are wonderful but I smell bs... I really believe this story was highly fictionalized I also think the "descendant" is not her biological gran daughter I Believe she is related to the young lady Madam Walker allowed in her business. I don't know why Ms. Bundles would want Madam Walker legacy to be mis represented so. Maybe it is bc she isn't related to her so she wouldn't understand the value in keeping her family first. There were so many good things about this movie that disregarding some of the facts would have been ok but too many facts were just fabricated and changed`they even made Madam Walker out to be some sort of a loser... They missed so many opportunities to tell her story which I understand because they wanted the drama aspect but you cant just disregard what she did in bussness her patenets, her other areas of business her movie theater she was in the middle of opening they didnt get into any of that just drama. Also I have to say this, her products did not last through out the 1970s as the movie suggests yes maybe a sales woman kept a recipe and kept it going but thats not what i heard and also if it were true there would have been tins available for sale online today being that the 70's was not that long ago. Belive me I have tried to find her hair products years ago I couldn't find them then you cant find them now. Her Daughter actually sold the recipe and lost her fortune thats so sad how they mis represented that in this movie. Its not that I want to down play any of her success its just they are making her seem more successful in areas where she wasn't. She is successful in the area that NO ONE had ever done what she had done before. Also this movie also makes her out to seem like a bad guy a little bit stating that she stole a recipe from a multao woman although her reason were not inhuman it could be true because Madam Walker has stated that she dreamed up the recipe. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member i did rank 4 but then decided to take 1 back. there are two persons in the project edited out and I do not even learn the name of one of the two. WHY? And even though the short films are well made for each participant, I agree with some critics that the impact of the method acting workshops to channel our alter-egos into a fictional character seems to be narrow and stereotypical : violence, rage, sorrow, lonesome. Any meaning there? But it is an interesting theme Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I fancied the guy in this a lot hehe Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Rated: 3/5 Sep 8, 2011 Full Review Philip French Observer (UK) This is a glib, exploitative project that toys with vulnerable people. It is perhaps of limited interest to popular audiences, but of value to film and drama students.
