Not a great film by any means, but there is enough doubt and double crossing through the film to take it to its conclusion. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member it was pretty, but I felt it was more of a gratuitous make-Takeshi-look-like-a-dark-Japanese-bishounen flick, I didn't watch for the plot really...but hey, you get to hear Takeshi speak halting Japanese XD; Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked this movie on the whole. I'll start with what I did not like : it was very difficult for me to follow all the characters, remember their names, and with all the lying and cheating going on I really need to see it once more to really understand what happened, who did what and why they did it. I think maybe the plot was slightly more complicated than necessary. Now, what I liked : great acting, Kaneshiro is amazing in it, Mirai Yamamoto as well. I also liked the music, especially in the opening scene. The photography is beautiful too, I rather like the story and finally, it's a very, very sexy film (if you're easily shocked, you've been warned! If you love either of the leads and want to see them in several hot love scenes, get the DVD right now lol!) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member hard movie to judge---the acting is first rate and the scenery and style in which the film is shot is beautiful to look at--Tokyo at its most vibrant, especially at night. However, the one fault I find about this movie is its numerous characters, their motives, and the twists and turns the story takes. To be honest, its more complicated than it needs to be with all the minor characters and their roles, and I just could not keep track of their names. That being said, I still liiked the movie and recommend it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Hard Boiled Japanese version.
