Matt Fowler IGN Movies A fine testament to an enduring actor who left Hollywood when it turned on him, but then also enthusiastically returned when it wanted him back. As himself. Rated: 7/10 Sep 12, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews

Jeff M If you're looking for a hard-hitting expose about the rise and fall of a character actor forever in the shadow of his greatest achievement, well, this isn't exactly it. But if you're the right age and feeling a bit nostalgic, you may enjoy this documentary about the first Batman - and some swear the only one that really counts! I did learn a couple things about his background and earlier career, but the majority of the film is showing West appear at conventions filled with superhero fanatics and repeated attempts made to get him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It does delve a bit into the difficulties West had post-Bruce Wayne, resulting in his departure from Hollywood, but this is ultimately something that only West fans and 60s entertainment buffs will find entertaining. My personal highlight was a brief clip showing West in an interview with other BATMAN cast members. Had the documentary included more interaction with West's other co-stars and celebrity fans, I think we could have learned more about the man behind the mask. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Audience Member Documentaries often depict heady topics dealing with issues like social justice, political corruption, and economic exploitation. For those exact reasons I wanted to write about Starring Adam West (2013). I think documentaries highlighting important issues are valuable to our culture but that does not mean the genre cannot have a wide variety of subjects including light hearted and comedic fare. Starring Adam West (2013) follows the career of the most well known actor to play Batman on the small screen Adam West. Despite the subject's ups & downs in Hollywood the film's subject is enjoying a career renaissance during his golden years. Thanks to the many types of Batman now available to audiences the once reviled Batman TV show produced during the sixties is also enjoying a revival in popularity among old and new fans alike. I must confess that I was among the many people who derided the campy sixties Batman. In my defense during my childhood in the late eighties and early nineties we were not blessed with so many iterations of Batman in popular media as we are today. During my youth I would be damned if I would embrace the silly campy Batman when I was so starved for a serious interpretation of the Dark Knight. In today's world with so many flavors of Batman available it's much easier to embrace Mr. West's campy interpretation of the Caped Crusader. Starring Adam West (2013) won't change the your life or impact your world view but it isn't an over glorified Adam West commercial like the VH1 documentary series Behind The Music tends to be. Family Guy and Batman fans alike will enjoy this romp through Adam West's career. If you're a fan of documentaries like I am its still alright to enjoy a guilty pleasure every now and then. Even the world's greatest detective agrees, "Well, that's okay, chum. We all have the right to be selfish sometimes." Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A great documentary starring a very charismatic and funny Adam West. He comes across really well as do his wonderful family. Some great talking heads. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A touching documentary of a man and his legacy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Love Adam West but this was so slight that it bordered on invisible. For a man with so much career to barely mention anything is a shame. It spent more time dealing with his not having a hollywood walk of fame then talking about anything he did outside of Batman. no clips, only a few photos and a whole lot of scenes of comic con people talking about how much they like adam west. you could have cut this down to 20 minutes and had the same effect.
