This is a peculiar little oddity that starts interestingly enough but quickly becomes more and more preposterous, eventually suffocating under the weight of its own pretension. As with many movies of this ilk, the set-up isn't half bad and has potential, but the execution doesn't live up to its possibilities. What saves it from being a total waste of time is the surprisingly strong cast of actors - although it's debatable whether they signed on because of the material itself or because they needed some outdoor furniture for their villa in France. I would like to single out Robinson in particular. I've only seen him in two projects - this and LOVE, SIMON. But the roles and performances are so varied that I'm intrigued what this young actor has in store for the future. Ryan and Greg Kinnear are predictable choices for their roles and give predictable performances. In the end, it's a rather blah experience - nothing to run away from but certainly nothing to look forward to. And by the end, your limitations of believability may be pushed to their limits.

Ich bin ergriffen, ich müsste den Thriller noch einmal sehen. Eine gute Story (Drehbuch), gute Dialoge. Die Dramaturgie ist stehst am Steigen. Sie bleibt nicht an der Oberfläche, sondern geht in die Tiefe. Die Musik ist auch stark, sie unterstützt die Dramaturgie, sie steigert die Spannung. Alles passt, die Regie, Ausstattung, die Kostüme …. Die zwei Hauptdarsteller in der Rolle der Mutter Charlene (Amy Ryan) und ihres Sohnes Philip (Nick Robinson). Sie geben den Film „Leben". Amy Ryan die unerschrockene Mutter, Nick Robinson, der behinderte, nach der Wahrheit suchende Sohn, spielen ihre Rollen famos.

It must really be a horrible life as a "professional" film critic, no longer being able to appreciate or enjoy something that you must have once loved. Kinda sounds like the life of a heroin addict. This movie was intriguing and entertaining. The acting was pretty good, and the concept was original.

How about Strange but Untrue, this film has one of the most complex and twisted plot of any movie I have seen. Full of A List actors but unfortunately they cannot pull this plot off as it's so rediculous and absurd. Sorry but I can only give this movie 2 and 1/2 stars!!

It wasn't very enjoyable, on one hand. However, on the other hand, it wasn't terrible, but it could've been executed way better. The boredom stretched on far beyond what I could handle and the entire movie seemed drab. However, the casting choices and performances weren't bad, and I recognised quite a few of them.

What's strange is that anyone thought this movie was worth making. It's a thriller with no thrills, almost no action and even less tension. What it does have is a strong cast, but who wants to see good actors going to waste?
