Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald What's strange is that anyone thought this movie was worth making. It's a thriller with no thrills, almost no action and even less tension. What it does have is a strong cast, but who wants to see good actors going to waste? Rated: 2/5 Oct 15, 2019 Full Review Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times There remains some truth in advertising, especially when it comes to Rowan Athale's bizarre family thriller. Sep 9, 2019 Full Review Guy Lodge Variety Can't quite decide what kind of weird it wants to be: a loopy B-movie corkscrew ride, or an American Beauty-style suburban burlesque with Something To Say. Sep 7, 2019 Full Review Nadine Whitney Mr. Movie's Film Blog If the film sorted out what genre it wanted to belong to, the audience would be less confounded and considerably more engaged. Sep 17, 2023 Full Review Peter Gray The AU Review ...whatever flaws audiences could find with the film's tone, the impeccably committed cast keep the film afloat that you'll be too gripped to truly care. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 2, 2021 Full Review Hagan Osborne FILMINK (Australia) ... shoots for the same psychological heights as Gone Girl but ends up hitting 13 Reasons Why levels of melodrama. Jeff M This is a peculiar little oddity that starts interestingly enough but quickly becomes more and more preposterous, eventually suffocating under the weight of its own pretension. As with many movies of this ilk, the set-up isn't half bad and has potential, but the execution doesn't live up to its possibilities. What saves it from being a total waste of time is the surprisingly strong cast of actors - although it's debatable whether they signed on because of the material itself or because they needed some outdoor furniture for their villa in France. I would like to single out Robinson in particular. I've only seen him in two projects - this and LOVE, SIMON. But the roles and performances are so varied that I'm intrigued what this young actor has in store for the future. Ryan and Greg Kinnear are predictable choices for their roles and give predictable performances. In the end, it's a rather blah experience - nothing to run away from but certainly nothing to look forward to. And by the end, your limitations of believability may be pushed to their limits. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/12/23 Full Review Roy T It must really be a horrible life as a "professional" film critic, no longer being able to appreciate or enjoy something that you must have once loved. Kinda sounds like the life of a heroin addict. This movie was intriguing and entertaining. The acting was pretty good, and the concept was original. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/22 Full Review Audience Member Rather slow until about 2/3 of the way through when I was caught off guard by an unexpected twist. Good cast. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review robert p How about Strange but Untrue, this film has one of the most complex and twisted plot of any movie I have seen. Full of A List actors but unfortunately they cannot pull this plot off as it's so rediculous and absurd. Sorry but I can only give this movie 2 and 1/2 stars!! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It wasn't very enjoyable, on one hand. However, on the other hand, it wasn't terrible, but it could've been executed way better. The boredom stretched on far beyond what I could handle and the entire movie seemed drab. However, the casting choices and performances weren't bad, and I recognised quite a few of them.
