This show starts off great. With sufficiently scary monsters and a maybe jumpy but plausible story line but as the episodes go on you see less and less of the cool monsters that had you hooked in the first place and the rules of the world seems to be whatever fits the story at the time.
It's a funny and interesting plot throught but felt rushed at the end and didn't really make sense.

The other reviewer began by saying he wouldn't like this film because "it's just another home invasion film." Well, I certainly have not watched enough movies to feel this way. I thought this film was well done. Most movies on Netflix you have not heard of usually bite the big one. This took several turns I wasn't expecting. It kept me on the edge of my seat and completely engaged after the first 10 minutes, which were to set up the "plot." I especially liked the "arm through the hole in the door." Even the actor on the other side had to smile a bit at this.

Ok verdict - I really truly, enjoyed this film. It kept me in. Right about of blood for me . film starts off with Spanish /English which I'm cool with. Poor old lady and Christmas cockroaches , yuck. Cut to Ally ( real estate broker) talking to Ramón the last remaining elderly occupant in the building the owners want forced out, he warns her to shut the front door correctly bc "anyone can get in" ... Its Allys' boyfriend Simons Birthday ,This decrepit apartment building , I for one wouldn't take my man there for a surprise birthday #let's get it on, but I'm not Ally . I get not shelling out dough, but would it be so bad to spring for a dinner and a movie!? Guess so! So let's go....it storms as in all horror films, they enter said building.. we do not see any nudity #bonuspoints bc that's new!! ...you get company ...TENSION, BUILDS MORE...BLOODY BLOODY, screamy goodness! Hooded/ masked figures. Everything about this film is delicious, to me. I knew a few points where things were coming so, I liked how they did it. It was gritty, dark. Acting was great. Sets were nice, every shot was good. Action is there on point. Ingrid Garcia-Jonsson as Alicia (Ally) did phenomenal ,I could feel her fear. Everyone was so great in this film. The director on point, lighting, sound, the momentum, you could sense terror. The "back up" guy was ruthlessly intense. The ending was great too. Just good times all around.

I've seen so many home invasion thrillers that, really, at this point, they all start to blend together. There's very few of them that manage to stick out to me. One I saw recently had the main character suffer from agoraphobia and hadn't left the house in 10 years. But even then, that movie went deeper than just being a straight up home invasion thriller. This film is only slightly different than your typical home invasion thriller in that it takes place in this apartment building rather than just a 'regular' house. That's about it as it relates to differences, because the film pretty much plays exactly the same way you would predict, with the minor exception being that that Alicia and Simon have more places to hide from the people who are trying to kill them. The film seems to a be a condemnation of real estate agencies, as the people after Ali and Simon were only sent to "remove" an old man from his apartment so they can buy the property. Things are complicated once Ali and Simon, have a 'romantic' get-together for Simon's birthday, are discovered by the murderers. It's your typical cat-and-mouse game and there's really nothing about the movie that feels all that special or unique, but, if I'm being completely honest, there's nothing wrong with this movie at all. It's a serviceable house invasion thriller. I found myself, surprisingly, getting into their ordeal. I think the movie handles it all pretty well. It's not that you care for the leads per se, since they don't really have personalities to speak off, but the movie is fast paced enough where you don't really think about any of the details, or lack thereof. This movie also scores points for reminding me of Rec, still one of my favorite horror movies of all time. Then again, it isn't fair to give this movie a more positive review cause it reminded me of a movie that I absolutely love. And, realistically speaking, it's not like I'm gonna give this movie three stars because of that. In spite of all the positives about the film, I just don't feel all of these elements add up to make a good movie. I don't know why, but there was just something missing. Perhaps it's the fact that it feels like pretty much every home invasion thriller in existence. Like, seriously, there's absolutely nothing here that's unique to it. I don't even wanna say that it borrows from other films of its ilk, because if they did then I don't feel it would've been intentional. It's just the nature of the subgenre, there's similarities that are shared. And it's really not even that, because, again, I've seen movies that aren't unique, that play to their particular genre's cliches, that I've enjoyed. If you have a good script and a game cast, then that's pretty much all it takes for me. But, as I mentioned, there was just something missing from this. And I can't really put my finger as to what it was exactly. I don't think more character development would've helped. You can't really do much with characters in this setting. Maybe you can and I just haven't seen it done yet. This is a slightly better than average movie, but it doesn't really make the push to that next level. It's got plenty of blood and gore, so that's not it either. Ah, well, what the hell can you do? Have to take movies as they are, right? With that said, this is still a watchable movie in spite of its flaws. It's short too, so it doesn't overstay its welcome at any point. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you've got time and you have Netflix, then this is available there. Wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but it's a decent enough home invasion thriller. Predictable and trite, but decent.
