Dr. Burke's study of radio waves from space has yielded zero results after four years, causing his grant money to be pulled. Other scientists would likely have thrown in the towel but Dr. Burke hits paydirt and is taken to space where he gains the means to thrwart an alien attack on Earth. The foundation can expect a visit from Dr. Burke in the near future for additional funding.
