Audience Member A ridiculous, over-the-top B-movie that has enough ludicrous nonsense and hilarious bad performances that it needs to be seen to beelieved. You could probably make a fantastic drinking game out of this. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/21 Full Review Audience Member Funny and stupid, this movie starts out with an interesting plot to hook in the viewer. African Honey Bees bred with a Brazilian type that can kill when encountered. A plot that is honestly used in most other killer bee movies, but I'll buy it, hey. Truthfully, I came across this movie because I thought that I was watching another one from childhood, but when the first 'main' character died, I and I realized that this wasn't what I thought it was, I kept watching anyway. The film is a B movie, that really isn't so much a horror as it's a romantic sci-fi almost. I don't want to spoil any major points, in case someone wants to figure out the "twist" for themself, but I can tell you, the end of the movie takes a turn that's almost cringe. Also, there is a plot hole about money, that by the end of the movie, was never talked about again. The movie was enjoyable because you can laugh at the bootleg moments, but the ending was rushed and honestly made no sense. Getting in front of major government group and ending it there was stupid as all get out, and was clearly made because the writers must have had no-where else to go. Bad ending, funny B-roll moments. Would recommend for a laugh, not for anything serious. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member And you thought The Swarm was stupid. There's a message in here somewhere about corporate greed and the desecration of the planet but they're completely lost due to ineptitude on the part of the filmmakers. From the completely inappropriate score to the failed (and also out of place) comedic attempts to whole sections of the film being edited out of sequence, The Bees is completely mind boggling. Like, what the hell were they going for exactly? Too bad cause the effects of the bees en masse are actually pretty good. On par with Irwin Allen's aforementioned killer bee opus. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member As a 'B' movie, it has everything you could want. Indescribably bad acting, no hint of cinematography, a ludicrous plot and John Saxon. Terribly made, but fun to watch. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Starts out okay, then becomes silly. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member They prey on HUMAN FLESH! they CRASH STOCK FOOTAGE PLANES! they SMOKE REEFER! I only managed to catch half of this movie on Zone Horror, but it looked amazing. The military tries to wipe out a killer bee menace using flamethrowers, cluster bombs, and gay-inducing chemicals, but they FAIL! (or maybe they succeed, but the film was so scratchy I couldn't suss out which were bees and which were celluloid grit). I like bees. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
