Watching this film was like watching a surreal dream through beautiful shots, interesting close ups, a perfectly matched classical score, and enigmatic characters. There were unexpected, strange happenings that raised my eyebrows and made me feel like there was a cerebral meaning that was over my head. It reminded me of when I watched Mulholland Drive by David Lynch and had to watch it again to try to figure out what I just watched. I think I'll need to watch this film again, which is great, because it was masterfully done. I also love how it has a vintage vibe and style and wonder if it was shot on actual film. Even though this had me thinking about a David Lynch film, the types of shots, editing, and style reminded me of Hitchcock, but was still unique.

The unpredictable twists in the story at the end are like the cherry on top of an already great idea. It reflects our tendency to fill the gaps in our lives and the extremes we go to feel whole again. If you enjoy wild and unconventional storytelling done intelligently, this production will bring you joy. "The Berlin Bride" is definitely worth a watch.

What makes "The Berlin Bride" enjoyable is how Bartlett tells the story through his unique visual style. Without using much dialogue, he skillfully conveys both emotion and backstory. He even outshines silent films that I read inspired him in this aspect. The way he blends reality and fantasy is so smooth. Bartlett not only came up with a fantastic idea involving a mannequin but also used it purposefully to enhance the story. The storytelling is anything but lazy.
