jacob b Not sure why audiences were upset that this was a promotional hoax to hype up The Village. Oh sure, when The Blair Witch Project does it, people were amazed but when M. Night Shyamalan does it, they fail to see the funny side. And this was before his decline in quality with Lady in the Water, The Happening and The Last Airbender, so it's not like his hatedom grew here. This was a fun mockumentary with a compelling story that does feel faithful to the Shyamalan spirit and I'm sure would be a ton of fun for his fanbase back when the claims that he was "the next Spielberg" had some weight to it. I'll give them this, this is certainly the closest we're going to get to seeing Johnny Depp in an official Shyamalan-themed piece of media. Though I'm not sure if Depp was ever seriously considered for Signs, even if that film wasn't always written with Mel Gibson in mind. I had a good time watching this and it provided me a good breather from "making-of" documentaries which I've been seeing too many of these last couple of months. Worth your time if you're a Shyamalan fan...just remember that this is not supposed to be taken at face value. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member At Least It Was Successful! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of the best faux documentaries ever made! I'm not a huge Shyamalan fan, but this was one of the scariest things I ever watched! I want to say when it debuted, it was on cable and it even had commercials between scenes, but that just made it seem like more of a legitimate documentary. A lot of people were pissed at M. Night after this, but I just look at it as a great film instead of a phony documentary. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member pretty funny Mockumentary Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting idea. A little heavy handed at times but entertaining. Worth a viewing.
