Audience Member Life can be grizzly even for an innocent man Richard Friedenberg directs Dan Haggerty Haggerty plays Grizzly Adams, a man trapper/frontier woodsman living in 1850 He’s accused of a murder he didn’t commit and swears he’s innocent But he feels there’s no way to prove it so he chooses to leave his daughter and her grandmother to live what freedom he has in the vast wilderness At some point he runs across an orphaned grizzly bear and names it Ben Haggerty narrates a majority of this which might get tiresome for some viewers But it allows him to share every thought of this experience It’s almost like a documentary for a lot of it There’s even a nice touching surprise towards the last half that’s so heartwarming And it ends on a peaceful note This film was so successful it actually spawned a tv series of the same name This was Haggerty’s most well known role and it’s easy to see why He leaves such an impression making us believe we can start a new life and find a new home when we’ve lost our old one Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Steve D Not a single thing works in this mess. I get choked up just thinking of that song. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie is like a warm hug. It reminds me of listening to my grandfather tell stories when I was younger. I didn't care about the stories, I just felt good listening to him speak. His nostalgic glow was heartwarming. The movie has an old soul and a naturalistic enthusiasm. I guess I would call it a guilty pleasure. I'm a sucker for minimalist adventures in the wilderness.
