Audience Member It's not possible to rate this film any lower, tragically. This isn't so much a film, as 63 minutes of bleakness and mundanity. A man mysteriously appears in the desert he was flying over a moment earlier, and soon finds himself nearly naked and stumbling towards the bleak town of Trona. The only thing this film is, is a study in bleakness. The protagonist's life is bleak and boring and lifeless. He is suddenly removed from that life, and placed into a landscape of barren bleakness. He melds with this physical bleakness, with the discarded and forgotten remnants of former beauty, glory, or functionality. He slips into a minimalistic existence, until jarred to recognize that he misses civilization somewhat. But civilization itself offers it's own form of bleakness, which he finally leaves behind. Motifs of love and vitality being frustrated in the protagonist's own life reappear throughout the film. He remains an outsider to a joy or relationship that others seem to share with one another. Though he can observe this, he appears for the most part resigned to it. Those around him appear unaware of the staggering barren nature of life, and seem to make out as best they can. Slow. Boring. Tedious. Pointless. Irritating. On the plus side, it's only 63 minutes long. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Another one of those indie, cult, art house, alternative films that very few of my friends has the patience to enjoy and that I read in too many introspective, profound messages about life, philosophy, humanity, the universe and existence from. I know a guy very much like the main character in this story. Kind of a borderline functional alcoholic who knows how to appreciate life whenever possible and also to do what it takes to survive when he has to as well. Living for the moment in situation to situation and not giving too much of a damn what others think. Seeing the world below from an airplane, in the beginning of the film, kind of reminds me of what insignificant commodities and how anonymous we all are as individuals in a sea of human civilization. The guy is a typical, bachelor, male in almost every respect. Many of the scenes seem out of context and cut together sometimes incongruently, but it still pieces together into a coherent story despite all this.
