Audience Member I first saw this movie on VHS when I spent a year in Sydney, Australia. There was a Civic Video just off the red light district of Kings Cross that had a stash of low budget horror movies and other obscure titles. This was manna from heaven for me as I rented them all. One of them was Werewolves on Wheels, a film I had first read about in the essential tome Incredibly Strange Films by the Re:Search publishing house. A biker gang break bread with the members of a local Satanist church and then start to change.  Let's check off what this movie has all present and correct- - Great movie title- check - Great movie poster- check - Great soundtrack- check - Great plot- no, nope, NOPE! It's such a shame when a movie has so much going for it but forgets about a plot or any kind of narrative for an audience who isn't stoned. Werewolves on Wheels is too much wheels and not enough werewolves. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member 1971: A great movie title in search of a good movie. A motorcycle gang gets cursed by a church of devil-worshippers. As the gang travels on, different members meet grisly deaths. They eventually learn the source of the deaths and their cursed fate. The werewolves aren't seen until nearly the end of the movie. Some scenes are so dark that it is hard to tell what's going on. Acting is OK to amateurish. Movie is better if viewed as "so bad it is OK". Stars Stephen Oliver, D. J. Anderson, Deuce Barry, and Severn Darden. Directed by Michel Levesque. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Two out of five stars for the 40% of the film that is actually visible; the other 60% of night scenes are literally shots in the dark where the action, let alone which characters are involved, is completely indistinct. Like Birdemic, there's a lot of filling up gas tanks in this movie. The plot involves the Devil's Advocates biker gang pissing off some Satanists whose lovingly rendered ritual seems to have been effective in bringing structure and purpose to the bikers' otherwise chaotic lives. There are werewolves, but how they come to be isn't exactly clear. After the Satanists exact their revenge, it's time for the bikers to exact their revenge, but they come armed with sticks and tire irons to an amulet and pentagram fight. WoW makes me nostalgic for the 1970s. Life was simpler then. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Exploitation and grindhouse fans licking their chops after seeing the lobby poster for Werewolves on Wheels will leave disappointed and a little confused. The music isn't cheesy enough (it's actually pretty good), the acting isn't really that bad, and the nudity and violence are fairly tame. In other words, Werewolves on Wheels isn't as fun as it should have been. Seemingly made with pretensions toward the film festival circuit instead of the drive-in, this movie's legitimately redeeming qualities (earnest storytelling, attempts at dramatic tension) don't mix well with its flower child dialogue, satanic rituals, and golden age wolfman costumes. Mainly interesting for those left wondering how Easy Rider would have turned out if it were a monster movie, Werewolves on Wheels at the very least should be seen as an example of how much more interesting films were in the 1970's. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member It should have plenty of cult value, but the production values are critically low and the story pretty dire. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Maybe I was actually expecting werewolves to ride around on motorcycles. While there isn't much werewolf action, which makes the title a true exploitation one, it is a nice drive-in type of biker-Satanic cult movie. You won't find the meaning of life here but you might have a good time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
