Critics Consensus

An ineptly staged farce that dishonors the original film and squanders the comedic potential of its fine actors.

A few tart, amusing lines echo the fabled Kind Hearts and Coronets, yet this British movie based on a French farce falls into morbid silliness. Go to Full Review

The film has to fly by its wits -- and its witty lines -- and by the charm of its stars. This it does, just barely. Go to Full Review

It's never a good idea to cast Bill Nighy as a buttoned-down hit man. Go to Full Review

"Wild Target" bears all the hallmarks of [director Jonathan] Lynn's best films, despite being, even at a tidy 90 minutes, a bit too long. Go to Full Review

Wyatt W @RT99876267 4d How can so many talented actors have made such a terrible film? The concept is flawed and the script terrible. A emotionally repressed hit man and a sociopathic grifter are supposed to hold our interest, but even in the world of bizarre rom-coms, it is impossible to understand why theses two find each other attractive—or indeed why anyone would. The two main characters are utterly unsympathetic, and viewers cannot but hope that they will whack each other and so bring this painful exercise to a conclusion. See more J I @RT17771945 May 1 Great cast and a very funny film. Bill Nighy and Emily Blunt make an interesting couple and Rupert Grint is wonderful as the "adopted" son. The villains led by Martin Freeman are also very good 👍🙂 See more Maryneat R @maryneat Apr 29 Was nearly to the british atmosphere, not comprehensive out of the sophisticated scenery of a London of 2010. Music around the acts, and the roles upper the cinematic tabloid. A very interesting movie to have lights on the garden in a comic film. See more Michelle T @MichelleTrim Jan 3 This is a gentle comedy romance enveloped in pure British humour. Smart, satirical and no slapstick. WHAT a joy. Highly recommended. See more nick s @Nick_S Dec 29 Very capable cast. Unfortunately they were working with a woeful script that made scenes feel forced and too jumpy. The main characters forged deep and meaningful relationships after one day. Then there's all the unnecessary exposition as they explain each others character nuances in case anybody missed it. I think it was meant to be a comedy but there weren't many jokes. Maybe we were meant to be amused by it's absurdity. I couldn't get through it. The start wasn't too bad but the middle was as entertaining as flat soda pop. See more Tony S @RT22145614 Aug 17 Not a favorite of the critics, but I liked it. Good suspense, funny, and some twists and turns that were unexpected and enjoyable. See more Read all reviews
