The Gilchrists struggle with everyday problems -- with one big difference, their head of household is also the leader of the free world. Between entertaining foreign dignitaries, holding secret Cabinet meetings and dealing with emergencies, the president's family must also face everyday issues like a grown son moving in and becoming one of the administration's biggest liabilities. Teenagers who are too smart for their own good and a stepmother who struggles to connect with the children add to the mix. Despite their extraordinary setting, the Gilchrists prove that, at the end of the day, people are just people.

Audience Member Well written, well acted...story lines that are all too rare these days Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This show should have gotten better reviews. Not only did it have the star power of Josh Gad and Bill Pullman, but the premise was solid, and the supporting cast was terrific. What happened here? New president Dale Gilchrist (an acceptable performance by Pullman) and Emily Nash-Gilchrist (played excellently by Jenna Elfman) are trying to raise four very different children, while also trying to run a country. Skip (in what I consider Josh Gad’s finest role) is a 27-year-old man-child who comes home to the White House after many years at college, while Beka (played straight by Martha McIsaac) is a giant nerd who dreams of following in her father’s footsteps. They are nigh-constantly assisted by press secretary Marshall Molloy (the hilarious Andre Holland), who is forever trying to keep a lid on Skip (and the rest of the family)’s antics. It’s a solid comedy that was sadly overlooked in its time. I doubt you will see a Kickstarter to revive it anytime soon, but I have found it very rewatchable, and a neat twist on the family sitcom formula.
