Counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer fights the bad guys of the world, a day at a time. With each week's episode unfolding in real time, "24" covers a single day in the life of Bauer each season. Jack deals with assassination attempts, nuclear attacks, bioterrorism, torture, traitors, sleeper cells, other bad guys and the alarming tendency for his romances to end badly -- very badly.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

It often feels like the same ol', same ol', but as Jack Bauer, Kiefer Sutherland continues to deliver in 24's final day(s).

Joshua Alston Newsweek If viewers found themselves relating to 24's final notes for its portrayal of a government bent on destruction, it's a disappointing, sullying end for one of television's most innovative shows. Lindie B Best series, excellent season!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/17/24 Full Review Zach B This season, although still really good, was definitely one of the weakest seasons of 24 released with them constantly falling into the classic formula of plot twists and and story beats which after 7 seasons of the show became predictable. However, although the first 12 hours of the season felt stale, due to the uninteresting new characters, the second half of the season was far stronger with the last couple episodes being a standout across the entire series. Once again as always the acting from Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub was outstanding with the only notable other highlight being Freddie Prinze Jr.. Overall, i would definitely recommend continuing 24 into this season if you have gotten this far into the show as it is still a strong edition to the story and leads into the final season very well with this seasons incredibly strong ending. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/16/24 Full Review Dave C A little better than the past couple of ‘Days', but still feels samey Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/23 Full Review stoner j This is the best season of 24, the absolute bloodiest as Bauer is out to kill any and everyone involved in murdering Renee, including boat loads of politicians. Sutherland is so gangsta in that black Jason mask mowing down ememies. Absolutely thrilling conclusion to the original 8 seasons! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member 8 seasons, 8 days of action, plus actors, crew, script, and the locations used!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Better than the bad sixth season but weaker than the average seventh season, the final season of 24 starts off unusually boring, has a very weak reason to have Jack working with the recently reinstated CTU, the new characters aren't as unlikable as the FBI agents from the previous season but are still mostly forgettable outside of the Hassan family (it was nice to see Rami Malek in an early role predating his more iconic ones from Until Dawn and Bohemian Rhapsody...I have never seen Mr. Robot) and the twist with Dana Walsh is honestly the most headache-inducing twist 24 has ever had. With the new information we learn about her, it makes her absurdly-disconnected subplot a huge waste of time and makes her feel like two completely different characters. And yet, there was something about this final season that prevented it from being a complete dumpster fire. The performances, especially Kiefer Sutherland's, are great, the action sequences are thrilling albeit a step-down from Washington, some of the other twists are legitimately shocking, Omar Hassan is a likable character, I liked the episodes where Jack and Renee go undercover and the last few episodes certainly shaked things up a bit, to say the least. These final six episodes are genuinely interesting to watch for what they do with Jack and how it leads to an ending that provides some form of closure whilst also helping to set up a movie (that has since been retooled into a miniseries that I have yet to see). Day 8 of 24 might have shown just how much of a tough act to follow the acclaimed fifth season was but the stuff it gets good, it does a better job getting good than the crappy sixth Day. An alright conclusion to a groundbreaking real-time action drama that, alongside Jason Bourne, helped the espionage genre grow up for a more cynical, angst-obsessed age.
