Counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer fights the bad guys of the world, a day at a time. With each week's episode unfolding in real time, "24" covers a single day in the life of Bauer each season. Jack deals with assassination attempts, nuclear attacks, bioterrorism, torture, traitors, sleeper cells, other bad guys and the alarming tendency for his romances to end badly -- very badly.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Filled with strong action sequences, 24:Live Another Day is a return to the formula that made the original series popular -- though it also suffers from familiarity and sameness.

James Poniewozik TIME Magazine As long as all you ask of it is more familiar twists and backstabbing, you'll probably be happy with it. Sep 2, 2021 Full Review Sam Wollaston Guardian It's hard not to want more. Four years of being clean, then a double hit - hmmm, that's good - and yeah, I'm back too. May 9, 2014 Full Review Gerard Gilbert Independent (UK) A consolation then that 24 doesn't have any of draggy stuff that so quickly palled Homeland's charms; there are no stroppy teenagers in Jack's world. May 7, 2014 Full Review Cory Barker TV.com The shorter season meant a tighter and better-told story, and less time to get lost in the woods (perhaps literally) with lame characters or D-plots that had no real impact on the people who everyone in the audience cared about. Nov 16, 2018 Full Review Alex Carter Den of Geek In fact, it's difficult to think of anything the comeback did wrong, other than making me wish they were going to make another season. Zach B Another outstanding addition to the 24 universe with it not only bringing back the original 24 concept that fans of this show came to love, but also twisting it to make this season feel different and stand out from the rest of the show. The acting, as always for 24, was incredible with the highlights as usual being Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub, although the return of Kim Raver and William Devane was also a standout this season. Overall, a strong closing season to this incredible show leaving me disappointed that it ended but also however with a hope that one day a season 10 will be made picking up with the characters that we have grown to love over the years. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/16/24 Full Review Amir Bring 24 back!!! What a great show and truly impressive that directors kept it fresh and entertaining for 9 seasons. Kiefer is absolutely perfect for his role. I think bringing and keeling so many returning characters was a key to its success. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Fave D The best series to keep you on the end of your seat. Binged the entire series and want more. Disney should invest and revive this franchise!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/12/23 Full Review Dave C A stronger cast and better writing elevate 24 back up to a better level of entertainment than the past few seasons Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/04/23 Full Review Brett R I mean, could how a "24: The Movie" have ever been greenlit in the first place? The whole POINT of "24" is that each season is a relentless, ruthless stretch of approx. 17 hours of a 24 hour marathon for our characters. The only "movie" that came close to this beloved concept was the failed AL Pacino experiment, so the franchise's long-awaited movie was probably never in the cards. So 24's "Day 9" is the next best thing. Still a 24 hour marathon, still an existential threat to the U.S., but the international setting is a breath of fresh air and the new 12-hour format with one major time jump was a smart move for the franchise. Despite firing all their bullets in Day 8, the writers improbably deliver another brilliant endgame for Jack, with another heartbreaking twist that somehow didn't feel stale after 13 years on American television. I was fine with how Day 8 wrapped everything up, but I am pleased LAD exists because, like our reality, a perfect story like this NEVER ends. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/18/23 Full Review stoner j Not as good as the end of the initial series (season 8), but still excellent and a severely sad ending to the Jack Bauer saga. As sad as it is with all the grim outcome for Audrey and Jack, it's a good ending to a great show. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
