What to Know

Critics Consensus

Arrested Development finds itself back in familiar form, recapturing much of the cast's chemistry and comedic brilliance -- though it still doesn't quite live up to its own past.

Stuart Heritage Guardian You could forgive all this if these episodes were funny, if they contained even a trace of the spark that made its first run so incredible. But they aren't. They're flat and lifeless and pointless. Rated: 1/5 Mar 18, 2019 Full Review Noel Murray The Verge What's missing here, to a depressing degree, is a sense of purpose. Mar 15, 2019 Full Review Inkoo Kang Slate The Bluths are a terrible lot, and the show never lets us forget it, but there's something cruel, and boring, about continuing to harp on Buster's otherness. Jun 8, 2018 Full Review Tilly Pearce metro.co.uk Unfortunately for the show, even without the controversies putting a cloud over proceedings, the simple fact of the matter is that this season just isn't that good. Jan 26, 2021 Full Review Dylan Ford Cultured Vultures It may not be all it once was, but even an imperfect Arrested Development is still funnier than many of the comedies on-air today. Oct 8, 2019 Full Review Tom Philip GQ Magazine [UK] These may not be smart people or even good people, but they belong together. As the title promises, it's fun as hell to see how far they've come without really going anywhere at all. Mar 29, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Tee H It's well known that the first three seasons on Arrested Development are the pinnacle of comedy TV and the last two... fall somewhat flat. I've watched the first three seasons of this show so much I can almost quote them word for word but one watch of Season 5 was more than enough for me. Glad they finished the story but I really didn't love it. That said, the final five minutes of Season 5 contain possibly the funniest lines in the entire show and made me laugh out loud. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Ethn H Even though season 4 was very disappointing, it still had some great stuff here and there. No such luck with season 5. Unwatchable. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/02/23 Full Review T T Big yawn. This has gotten too old and too tired. You can only rehash the same stuff a million times, from 2003-2019, before it's not funny anymore. Geez, enough already. Seriously. Talk about milking something to death until it backfires. They should have quit after season 3, period. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Dustin D The final season of Arrested Development is more true to form after the meandering and confusing season 4. It wraps up the story lines from the previous season and is a satisfying conclusion to the series. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This is for all the seasons, I loved them all, there were always moments that I could not stop laughing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Sort of a mess. And the entire Gob/Tony wonder thing was forced and unfunny. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
