What to Know

Critics Consensus

As We See It deftly sidesteps schmaltz by depicting people on the spectrum as well-rounded individuals with their own foibles, enriching both the comedy and pathos.

Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Representations of neurodiversity on screen often borders on the sentimental and the pedantic. We could do with a lot more authenticity instead. Feb 2, 2022 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Succumbing neither to darkness nor schmaltz, it's a real standout. Jan 28, 2022 Full Review Eric Deggans NPR Katims has created an emotional, touching series that gives each character a compelling, empathetic storyline. Along the way, he's provided an important example for how TV can improve its depiction of characters on the spectrum. Jan 22, 2022 Full Review William Schwartz Book & Film Globe On a scene by scene basis hardly anything that happens in any given episode qualifies as a joke, intentional or otherwise. Jul 21, 2022 Full Review Suchin Mehrotra Hindustan Times As We See It is equally one of the most affecting and moving shows about love and connection I've seen in the longest time. Jan 31, 2022 Full Review Joyce Slaton Common Sense Media Powerful, emotionally honest, and by turns hilarious and heart-rending, this dramedy about three roommates with autism spectrum disorder trying to navigate their confusing adult lives is simply beautiful. Audience Member Loved it ! Thought it was a good way to let people see there is more than one way to be autistic. Even though it doesn't represent everyone with autism, I think it'd be next to impossible. Loved and laughed so much this serie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Michael S Really wonderful show. Made me both laugh and cry. Really sad there is only one season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Pat H As a grandmother of 2 very young autistic boys I am always interested in watching series/reading articles about Autism. This short-lived series is absolutely wonderful. I really wish there were more seasons of it to watch. Bummer it only lasted one season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/23 Full Review Walk O Great show, well worth watching. So much better than so many slick productions out there. You feel as if you become part of their lives. I'm so disappointed that there won't be a second season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I love everything about this show. The characters are so well developed. They show us all the facets of life, laughing, crying, poignancy. One doesn't have to know anything about autism to enjoy this show. There are so many different sides to this show with the 3 main characters. Each character has their own story arc and then together is another. So well done I cannot believe this is the end of the show. 😢 Surely done streaming service could pick this up?! There are too many stories left to tell. We enjoyed watching with our teenagers and that doesn't always happen. Someone please pick this up🤞 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I was trying to think of reasons to give this show less than 5 stars and I simply cannot. such a heart-warming yet sometimes tragic show that does a great job of depicting autism at many different levels. I cannot recommend this show enough. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
