CW and Greg Berlanti expand the footprint of their DC Comics universe with this exploration of the intersection between family life and being a superhero. As a younger man, Jefferson Pierce donned the suit of a vigilante and protected the streets of his city, but he believed he'd left those days in the past. He learns that life doesn't always work out as planned when his daughter, Jennifer -- a star student who is determined to achieve justice at any cost -- gets recruited by a street gang. In order to protect his family, Jefferson sees no choice but to once again become Black Lightning.

Carmen Phillips Autostraddle It's probably going down as one of my favorites in the series, if for no other reason than it's incredibly well balanced for all three Pierce women. Oct 26, 2018 Full Review Christian Holub Entertainment Weekly Black Lightning's parallels to real-life American suffering is one of the things I enjoyed most about season 1, and I'm glad it's set to continue this season. Rated: B Oct 10, 2018 Full Review Melanie McFarland Salon.com The new season also puts [Williams'] in a role enabling her to balance the scales in ways that her lawful father cannot, which should prove interesting as the season develops. Oct 8, 2018 Full Review Joelle Monique The Beat The Akils pushed the boundaries of superhero network television. Feb 23, 2019 Full Review Charles E. Henning Tell-Tale TV The Book of Consequences: Chapter Three: Master Lowry, brings a little more superhero action to the forefront. This season hasn't been boring in any way, but it is a bit of a relief to see the main man back in action. Rated: 4/5 Oct 26, 2018 Full Review Kayti Burt Den of Geek Few shows -- network or otherwise -- make me feel as much as Black Lightning does, and this was particularly true in the final scene of tonight's episode. Fetti Puts an excellent real-world twist on superhero TV, while not sacrificing any of the action. An underrated gem of DC. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/24 Full Review Toms c It's still a little bit of a slog to get through but the show is excellent. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I always remembered season 2 being mediocre at best, i was wrong. Upon my second watch, it was better then what i remembered. The start of the season is very slow. Season 2 is the improved version of season 1. Season 2 had among the best episodes in the entire seires. sometimes, you can feel agenda being pushed but its still done the proper way. Agenda are there to support characters and build them better. Tobias is a very good vilain but i felt like he was over used. once the kalil storyline over, he should have been removed from the show, letting the markovian taking over as the vilain. Lynn was much better in season 2 then 1 and she was part of the main story and she didnt felt disconnected. Odel is another clichey vilain, sadly. hes one dimensionnal and when you believe hes changing, you are wrong, hes just playing the long game and hes just manipulating lynn, Gambi was amazing as usual. One of my issues would be the fact that nobody stays dead, lala cameback, painkiller is planned on coming back. This season is the average season of the arrowverse. Kalil-jenn running away from freeland was interresting. the school storyline was interresting. jefferson is a great lead for the show. shadow bird, good idea, liking it. jennifer taking the entire season to control her powers made sense and i enjoyed it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review omar a Más larga y su antagonista Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review m j It's okay, something to watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This show is truly underrated. One of DCs best shows, definitely shows the divide within the community, when unity should be amplified.
