The Harts are a Southern family that is forever struggling to make ends meet. They hope to achieve the American dream, but they're already rich -- in friends, family and laughter. Jenny Hart is a single mother supporting her family working as a waitress in the small town of Greenpoint, N.C. While Jenny's the head of her family, she's often at odds with, or scheming with, her lottery scratcher-obsessed mother, Betty, and her witty, creative daughter, Violet. Jenny's doting, eternal optimist boyfriend of 10 years, Wayne Edwards, is the love of her life and a surrogate father to Violet. He's a charming dreamer who may never hit the big time, but he's not going to give up the fight. In the end, the Harts may not have much, but they may just have everything they need.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

With an exceptional cast and a big heart to boot, Bless the Harts's particular worldview won't be for everyone, but it fits quite nicely into Fox's Animation Domination line-up.

Caroline Framke Variety Spivey's assembled an ace voice cast that can make the most of any joke, especially the ones that veer towards the surreal. And frankly, even if the jokes were less sharp, there's rarely any going wrong with the pair of Wiig and Rudolph. Oct 1, 2019 Full Review Tim Goodman The Hollywood Reporter This one just kind of sits there for 30 minutes, pleasant but not particularly funny as it sets up the Hart family. Lots of comedies get better after four or five episodes. It's your call. Sep 30, 2019 Full Review Kathryn VanArendonk New York Magazine/Vulture With its fast, absurd, dry sense of humor, hopefully Bless the Harts will have a chance to stick around for a long time. Sep 27, 2019 Full Review Melissa Camacho Common Sense Media Lighthearted comedy has some language, drinking. Rated: 3/5 Oct 2, 2019 Full Review Christopher James AwardsCircuit.com The show needs to make its humor more specific, more original and overall funnier if it wants to stand up to the rest of the FOX comedies on the same night. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 2, 2019 Full Review Roger Catlin rogercatlin.com Fits well among both Bob's Burgers and The Simpsons. Sep 30, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Claire P It's been a 'ffffwhile' since I've enjoyed an adult animated series so much. I'm genuinely surprised by the reviews. For comparison, other animated series I've really enjoyed are F is for Family, Family Guy (the earlier - not earliest - espisodes and King of the Hill. It's one of those that builds. As you get to know the characters their little quirks get funnier, just like your own friends and family. I've actually laughed out loud at some of the episodes and can't wait for series 2. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review Mia Q This show is really underrated, it's funny and the characters are good. It really doesn't deserve all the negative reviews, just watch the first two episodes, it's worth it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/10/23 Full Review Audience Member It is amazing. Maya Rudolph is my spirit guide Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Simple, fun and politics free. I can enjoy this show without obvious agendas being shoved in my face. Just good old story telling and entertainment Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The animation, the story, the dialogue, all seem weak. The jokes are like obvious dad jokes but slower n not trying to be ironic. Things have such an obvious build up u think theres gonna be some twist or play on it but there isn't. It's making fun of the class and culture it's using in a way that suggests it's creators think they are beneath them one moment. The next the show is pushing, what are presumably the creators views because they don't match the character. It's punching down one moment n preaching the next. I'm confused why this was made. I think it wanted to be Daria but has nothing smart to say, it's not got the style or humour. I watched 2 episodes thinking maybe it would get better but I'm just annoyed I bothered to watch at all. I'd never heard of it before I watched it, maybe I should have looked up review, then again the critic rating on here would have left me with another reason to be annoyed after watching. Do better, don't half make something just for the sake of making things. There is enough filler out there we don't need more. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I have been noticing this trend in newer animated shows where it seems like no one watches past the pilot episode before rating it, which doesn't really make sense as pilot episodes are notoriously bad. Also, people seem to feel this show is offensive to southerners? .... what? I am a lifetime Mississippian, this show isn't offensive or outdated, it's pretty spot on. And if you can't laugh at yourself, then damn, you really aren't any fun. This show is full of lovable, funny characters that derive humor from their relatable family dynamics, not from pointlessly vulgar shock humor (I'm looking at you Family Guy/South Park)! Yeah, those shows are funny in their own way, buy aren't people tired of that yet? I, for one, would like for you guys to stop getting perfectly enjoyable shows cancelled by downvoting to oblivion anything that doesn't base its whole comedy formula around fart jokes.
