Christopher L. Inoa Observer As in Castlevania, this series unleashes an over-abundance of bloody violence and gore. Gods, giants, humans and even birds meet gruesome ends; this series's specialty seems to be death by bifurcation. Nov 4, 2020 Full Review Eric Francisco Inverse Gorgeous and violent, Blood of Zeus reveals where the emerging scene of American-made anime is headed. Jul 25, 2023 Full Review Mariló Delgado Espinof With a charismatic ensemble, this story has enough hooks to keep us entertained through a corkscrew journey across Greek mythology. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 8, 2022 Full Review Shah Shahid Comic Years The hierarchy of the Gods and their own personal drama, fuelled by the looming demonic threat, and even more backstory is really where Blood Of Zeus excels. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 12, 2020 Full Review James Hanton Starburst An awesome creative streak throughout all eight episodes ... is let down by a lack of surface-level and narrative detail that would set it apart. Rated: 3/5 Nov 11, 2020 Full Review Andres Cabrera Geeks of Color As a fan of Greek mythology, a lot of the fun was seeing the characterization of each god and wondering which side they would choose. Chip P Easily one of the best animated shows I've ever seen. Being Greek I'm a huge fan of Greek mythology. It's cool to see a show that gives an original story but also stays true to all the big tropes in Greek mythology. Love Seraphim and Hera. They are probably my favorite characters. This is not a show for kids. The action is very violent but the story telling is first rate. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/25 Full Review AA A Great storytelling, beautiful animation, amazing musical score, fantastic voice performances. Everything worked together! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Mike P Solid sci-fi Anime serves up a new Greek Mythology trope: shape shifting demons invade the world of man; and a special troup of heroes bands to fight them...The anime-animation is excellent...It is a little dry and biblical; they act like they're telling the story of Moses or something. But it's exciting, dark and suspenseful; and it works. I recommend it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Pedro Henrique C This anime is incredible, congratulations to Netflix for this work, I hope Season 2 is at the same level as the first. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Kru G I'm a bit conflicted about this. The setting and story are true to the vibe in Greek mythology. It's not accurate, but it features childish, unreliable gods and immature mortals driven by their emotions. The art is great, but the animation is mediocre. The artwork would look fantastic in a comic book, but the animation falls short. The acting and dialogue could be improved. The characters come across as somewhat naive, simplified, and superficial - almost like a B-movie, but not in a good way. This is probably partly due to the story. From a distance, the plot seems decent. If you were to read a summary, it might sound like a good story. But when you focus on the individual scenes, it feels naive and unengaging. Part of the issue lies with the setting. The Greek gods are meant to be immature and unreliable, but they should still evoke some level of respect or awe. Instead, they just make you shake your head. The background music is annoying and slightly nauseating. It's a repetitive mix of choir and violins, constantly playing in a B-movie style that doesn't add to the scenes, but instead feels like a constant noise throughout the episodes. You eventually get used to it, but I ended up watching several episodes with the sound off because the music was so unpleasant. Removing the music from the anime would actually improve it. All in all, I think I would have enjoyed this more as a comic book. The art is truly excellent. But as an anime, it doesn't work for me. I made it through season 1 with some fast-forwarding, but I won’t be watching season 2. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/24 Full Review Harry R Pretty good overall in terms of plot and characters. Animation isn't quite as good as I expected and Zeus killing himself was just bad. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews
