The detectives of Brooklyn's 99th Precinct -- hotshot Jake Peralta, overachiever Amy Santiago, tough-as-nails Rosa Diaz, sweetheart Charles Boyle, devoted family man Sgt. Terry Jeffords and clueless best friends Scully and Hitchcock -- make up a loveable and offbeat squad that must get its act together when the office gets a new captain, the no-nonsense, unflappable Raymond Holt. Along with civilian office manager and social butterfly Gina Linetti, nothing will stop the crew from doing does what it does best -- bust the bad guys.

Critics Consensus

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's third season smartly sidesteps the pitfalls of romantically linking two central characters while also expounding on the series' joy for clever gags and hard-earned camaraderie.

Caroline Framke Vox It might not provide a flashy lede, but it is a show that has kept true to its voice and sharpened its humor every week since it began, and that is an achievement worth celebrating. Jan 10, 2019 Full Review LaToya Ferguson AV Club Even with a stacked cast and fantastic creative team -- as well as an established and effective groove -- Brooklyn Nine-Nine isn't afraid to step outside its comfort zone and grasp for more. Rated: B+ Sep 28, 2015 Full Review Allie Pape New York Magazine/Vulture Gina, as usual, has some of the episode's best lines. Rated: 4/5 Sep 28, 2015 Full Review Catherine Drake Den of Geek Creators Dan Goor and Michael Schur have made Holt, much like all of their striking characters, utterly loveable in his own rigid and protocol-adhering way. Jan 11, 2019 Full Review Nick Venable CinemaBlend Not only featured some minor shocks in the burgeoning romance between Jake and Amy, but it gave its new captain plotline a twist worthy of old school M. Night Shyamalan. Jan 10, 2019 Full Review Jason Hughes Screen Rant Rather than simply offering more of the same, the captain's chair shuffle and the burgeoning relationship give the entire ensemble new material to play off of. Elena G Brooklyn Nine-Nine continues to take you along for a great ride in episodes that utilize common TV storylines, like going undercover, but don't wear them out. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Obi-wan K just a smooth push after season 2 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Conrad C It is in this season that Brooklyn Nine-Nine takes a step past the self-contained episodes and focuses in on a plot that flows in many directions, but keeps you in your seat. There's still plenty of ridiculous moments, but there starts to be more heartfelt bonding in-between. The relationships built in previous seasons bear a lot of the load in this show, with no signs of strain. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/03/24 Full Review Harrison P I really enjoyed this. I thought it was really funny and entertaining. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Regal R 80/100 - great season, still kept up with seasons 1 and 2. im glad they kept the seasonal episodes.
