Adam Nayman The New Yorker In his new eight-part Netflix production, del Toro acts as a benevolent landlord of the horror genre, carving out space for others in the crowded pop-culture terrain. Dec 8, 2022 Full Review A.A. Dowd Chron. There's something to appreciate in all of these miniature horror films; even the most flawed of the collection get by on some cosmetic pleasure, performance, or authorial quirk. Nov 21, 2022 Full Review Brian Tallerico The Playlist Given the peaks that this series reaches and the overall quality of the filmmaking, this is a smashing success Rated: B+ Nov 8, 2022 Full Review Travis Johnson Mr. Movie's Film Blog I can’t help feeling that the average quality across the board should be a notch or two higher. Pretty good is good enough, but with this pedigree, we should be getting something consistently great. Jan 27, 2023 Full Review Alison de Souza The Straits Times (Singapore) In this anthology series now showing on Netflix, Mexican horror maestro Guillermo del Toro has curated eight tales ranging from the creepy to the gothic to the absurd, and directed by film-makers he handpicked. Rated: 3/5 Jan 13, 2023 Full Review Lina Lecaro LA Weekly/Village Voice Guillermo del Toro’s eerily enchanting new series is one of the best anthologies of its kind, maybe ever. Sam S Del toro has completely lost the genius he used to have. Every episode felt like a slog until i eventually would give up and start the next one hoping for something better, which never happened. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/25 Full Review Wynand v Masterpiece. The best horror a series I've ever seen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/25 Full Review wilhen c Alucinantes historias que evocan series como monsters 1988 y tales from the crypt 1989. Historias bien contadas, con una creatividad y puesta en escena genial que pone al espectador con ganas de más temporadas. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review Kyle J These stories are neither clever nor enlightening. They just have monsters in the endings. Here’s an example, NOT one of the anthology’s stories: A guy goes to a drugstore and is nasty to the pharmacist. The pharmacist gives him his prescription from out of which grows a squid that strangles him when he gets home (after fifty minutes). Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/05/24 Full Review Robin L Great fun - a weirdly Christmassy feel watching these - great cosy at home horror Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/25/24 Full Review Mafer G Hay capítulos buenos y otros no tan entretenidos. En general me gusto y más viniendo de Guillermo del Toro. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/24 Full Review Read all reviews
