Josh Gajewski Los Angeles Times A show that seemed to accept and even embrace the reputation given to it by those who never watched, or only casually -- nothing more than a guilty pleasure in which David Duchovny jumped from bed to bed. Nov 17, 2018 Full Review Alexandra Peers New York Magazine/Vulture This taut [final] episode -- with no sex, no jokes, and, now, no family -- brings the show far beyond where it's ever been before. Apr 3, 2018 Full Review Sam Wollaston Guardian If you haven't got into Californication [yet], you should give it a whirl. It's sharp, funny, sexy, wicked and the characters - especially Hank - have proper depth. Jul 28, 2010 Full Review Keith Watson metro.co.uk Few dramas do wall-to-wall filth with such humpy brio as Californication. Aug 28, 2019 Full Review Veronica Lee The Arts Desk The writing is stylish, witty and often laugh-out-loud funny because it rings true... Audience Member Still interesting but it's the same stuff Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The first three episodes are pretty rough (the first episode is good though.) After that it gets better, and the final three episodes are great! This also had the return of the stupendous director Stephen Hopkins, for his first time since the pilot! The episode "The Apartment" is the highest rated episode of the season and series on IMDb, and it was disappointing, despite some funny moments, and writing that was new to the show. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member What a horrible season, comparing to the first and second. The last episode redeemed the entire season though somehow.
