      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Even more uneven than before, Carnival Row's second season doesn't lack for ambition, but its endless sprawl of subplots mostly dovetail into a storytelling dead end.

Previous boethius61 I love everything about Carnival Row. Superbly acted with Bloom displaying an ever growing maturity, Delevingne is wonderful and all the supporting cast are fantastic, especially Jamie Harris. It's amazingly shot with beautiful and complex sets. There is a lore to the world that hints at a vastness and history left to our imaginations. Unlike most fantasy out there Carnival Row forgoes the tried and true quasi-medieval backdrop in favor of a Victorian-era London. It works brilliantly! The politics are deep and complicated without the shallow black and white, good-vs-evil simplification that pervades far too much literature and cinema. Numerous factions, all of which are deeply flawed, jokey and struggle, making mistakes along the way. In all of this Carnival Row is an honest political commentary seeing the darkness inside every ideology. And all the while, there is a mystery and adventure playing over the surface. Played out in the lives of trouble characters in troubled relationships. It's a must see. Loved it. Sad it is over. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/16/23 Full Review Valerii Ege D First season was built upon a great idea that had some flaws. The concept's design was successful, the execution around it wasn't very creative. However, the second season does what the first couldn't, building an imaginative story using its own foundation. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/30/23 Full Review BD 2 It was an interesting series. The last episode ruined it and now I'm glad there will be no more seasons. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/23 Full Review Dave H Absolute wonderfully written exciting and extremely well acted. We enjoyed how the season ended in a perfect way. It's a bit graphic violence however, little ones will not enjoy it. Sad there is not going to be a season three, and hope it someday gets on. Staring in 2019 and ending in 2023 is a bit long to wait. You will not be disapointed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/16/23 Full Review Bill P Fking rtarded writers.. writing all over the place. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/15/23 Full Review alexandra k Made no sense. Seemed like different people wrote each episode without story boarding and no plot lines connected or had a reasonable conclusion. It was confusing and stupid. A disappointment for an end to a good first season. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews Next Post a review
