Steve Johnson Chicago Tribune In his first sitcom since The Cosby Show dominated 1980s prime time, Bill Cosby seems nearly as adrift as his character. Audience Member I suspect a lot of the "rotten" ratings are due to Cosby's personal (read: criminal) dealings. Fine. I'm mostly watching for Madeline Kahn: she & Phylicia Rashad's scenes together really made this show. This sitcom is generally forgettable in the grand scheme of things, but upon rewatching as an adult it's pretty funny & reminds me how good we had it in the '90s compared to now. The economy was booming, everybody's head wasn't buried in an iPhone & people had attention spans longer than 10 seconds. I have no interest in Bill Cosby's narcissistic view of the world but this was a well-written grown-up sitcom that didn't center on kids and all the "cuteness" of child actors. It was a perfect fit for CBS which was always for a more mature audience. In my opinion it aged well. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
