"Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David plays a version of himself on the improvised series. He faces a constant barrage of life's little annoyances, which in David's sometimes well-meaning but terminally fumbling hands don't tend to stay small for very long. Episodes frequently center on his ignorance of or disregard for well-established social conventions and expectations, as well as his insistence that others adhere to rules of which only he seems to be aware. Developed from a 1999 one-hour special on HBO that was envisioned as a one-time project, the series premiered in October 2000.

Noel Murray AV Club Curb Your Enthusiasm is a funny, scary distillation of [Larry] David's experience of the world, where nearly everything makes him angry, including his sense that he probably has no right to be angry. Jan 24, 2020 Full Review John Carman San Francisco Chronicle It's howlingly funny, groaningly close to home and usually both. Rated: 4/4 Jan 24, 2020 Full Review Linda Stasi New York Post Don't expect situations, and don't expect an even flow-of anything but the laughs. Jun 13, 2018 Full Review Joyce Millman Boston Phoenix The genius of Curb is that you start every episode thinking that Larry is in the wrong, but by the end, as he's being mercilessly shredded by pompous, vindictive "good citizens," you realize that you're sympathizing and identifying with him. Jul 2, 2018 Full Review Peer Schneider IGN Movies Breaking even the biggest taboos, David is not afraid to approach even the touchiest themes, including affirmative action, molestation self-help groups, and religion. Rated: 8/10 Jun 9, 2018 Full Review Sierra Filucci Common Sense Media What makes the show so entertaining and hilarious is Larry's tendency to be socially inappropriate (much like Seinfeld's George Costanza) and get obsessed with tiny details, like Jerry Seinfeld's TV character. R Z Only watched ~5 episodes. It got really repetitive already. Always starts with Larry David ticking someone off, then he needs help from that person later. Or the person turns out to be a friend/partner of someone he knows. Was funny though, so gonna skip to another season to see if they got more plot variation Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/04/25 Full Review richard m I'm binge watching from the beginning..and it's a real pleasure as I never had the time or the Cable...I do remember that back then my brother R (rip) who loved 2 1/2 Men and thought Curb was stupid and unfunny...oh well...lol Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Jack R Can’t tell if I love him or hate him. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Stefan P id rather watch Lui CK master bate…. again? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/24 Full Review harrison r Larry David is never funny. This show is even worse than Seinfeld b/c he is also uncharismatic and only okay as an actor. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Larry David's brand of comedy, that of which was so successful in Seinfeld, is in full force with Curb Your Enthusiasm, a show in which David plays an exaggerated version of himself. The hand-held camera style and improvisational dialogue gives the show a very authentic "real word" vibe. Larry is a character I think we can all relate to which is precisely what makes this show so charming. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
