"Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David plays a version of himself on the improvised series. He faces a constant barrage of life's little annoyances, which in David's sometimes well-meaning but terminally fumbling hands don't tend to stay small for very long. Episodes frequently center on his ignorance of or disregard for well-established social conventions and expectations, as well as his insistence that others adhere to rules of which only he seems to be aware. Developed from a 1999 one-hour special on HBO that was envisioned as a one-time project, the series premiered in October 2000.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

While Larry's lack of personal growth wavers between amusing and baffling, Curb's sixth season introduces amusing new characters into its intricate plot lines.

Nancy DeWolf Smith Wall Street Journal For all his flaws, the Larry David of "Curb" is also a worthy crusader when it comes to identifying what he calls "the unwritten rules of society." Jun 13, 2018 Full Review Brian Lowry Variety So dense and intricate in weaving together Larry David's twisted view of humanity it's remarkable how neatly the episodes tie together their loose ends. Jun 13, 2018 Full Review Mary McNamara Los Angeles Times Still, after seven years, even David is having to reach a bit. Larry is getting a little ridiculous...and a little too mean even for Larry. Jun 13, 2018 Full Review Eric Goldman IGN Movies [Larry] David and Cheryl Hines are a great onscreen duo at this point, and no one plays exasperated better than Hines, as she has to deal with Larry doing one annoying thing after another. Rated: 8.5/10 Jan 24, 2020 Full Review Jason Zingale Bullz-Eye.com Though the first few episodes of season six present Larry at his absolute worst...the unusually over-the-top acidity of the character was eventually diluted in favor the Larry we all know and love. Rated: 4/5 Jun 14, 2018 Full Review Jesse Hicks PopMatters [Larry David] remains an unchecked id, incapable of development, a state that everyone around him accepts. By the sixth season, though, his childishness has become stale. Rated: 5/10 Jun 12, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Not a good season. What's up with this family living in Larry's rental home? I mean CYE never really was about situations that make sense but some random family coming to live with the lead actor and act like they own the house? What is this? Parasite?! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I never expected to love this show so much! I never got into Seinfeld, but this show makes me so happy. It's so unique and funny!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review dave d Reinvigorated and fresh Curb Season 6 will bring the laughs in what amounts to another binge worthy season. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review dustin d Cheryl finally had the good sense to leave Larry, and this leads to more tension in the show and a funny new plot line. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Every season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is worth watching. All equally hilarious. But season 6 really is the stand out for me. Between the classic "Anonymous Donor" to the hilarious "Lefty Call" this season is jam packed with laughs. Also this season introduces The Blacks. Especially a character named Leon. Only Larry David could have such on screen chemistry with the exact opposite of himself. After a little bit, even though they are only small parts the Blacks get kind of annoying, but not Leon, I'm glad he has stayed on through the rest of the seasons so far. If you are going to start out watching this show randomly. I would suggest starting with Season 6 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member All seasons of Curb are great, but if I had to choose one above all of the rest it would be season 6. This season just keeps delivering comedy gold. And with the introduction of Leon Black into the show it just adds another element to Larry's twisted take on his everyday life and affairs. He now has a sidekick who just happens to be a random foul mouthed black guy who is the total opposite of him, but they make it work so well together. There are classic scenes in this season that bring you to tears from laughing so hard. This show is unmatched when it comes to comedy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
