"Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David plays a version of himself on the improvised series. He faces a constant barrage of life's little annoyances, which in David's sometimes well-meaning but terminally fumbling hands don't tend to stay small for very long. Episodes frequently center on his ignorance of or disregard for well-established social conventions and expectations, as well as his insistence that others adhere to rules of which only he seems to be aware. Developed from a 1999 one-hour special on HBO that was envisioned as a one-time project, the series premiered in October 2000.

Critics Consensus

Though the seventh season hits largely familiar beats, Larry David continues to mine the mundane for humor, and Curb Your Enthusiasm is as funny as ever.

Ellen Gray Philadelphia Inquirer It's vintage Larry - bad behavior that only gets worse as the half-hour goes on - and it begins to set the stage for the season's main event, the "Seinfeld" reunion that may or may not bring about another even more important one. Jan 24, 2020 Full Review Jason Bailey DVDTalk.com Season seven manages to embrace that new direction while simultaneously engaging in the show's most blatant grab at nostalgia to date, by introducing a season-long storyline of Larry finally putting together a Seinfeld reunion show. Rated: 4.5/5 Jun 14, 2018 Full Review Joyce Millman Salon.com David's intricate, well-oiled, retribution-by-comedy machine is a thing of beauty. Jun 12, 2018 Full Review Eric Goldman IGN Movies Overall, this season was a bit disjointed and not among the very best Curb has offered. But look, this show has some tremendously high standards it has set for itself. Rated: 8/10 Jan 24, 2020 Full Review David Zurawik Baltimore Sun [Larry] David is absolutely pushing the limits of TV comedy on issues of race, gender, coarse language, mental illness and physical disease. Jan 24, 2020 Full Review Matt Goldberg Collider This new season-long arc isn't only a downright clever idea, but it keeps Curb functioning at its peak. Cam C The best season bar none Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/30/24 Full Review string QA ipsam delectus alias Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/03/25 Full Review Lucas H EPISODIO FAV: "The Bare Midriff" (7x6) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/01/24 Full Review Audience Member I get that the show needed & tried to be more inclusive but the black family living in the lead actor's house for free forever isn't working. It's so poorly executed but it was nonsensical to begin with anyway. Inviting some random family to come live with you for months (or is it years?) and letting them treat you like crap on a daily basis is a Sci-Fi material. It really doesn't go well with CYE. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This season has some many classic moments. From "Denise Handicapped" to "The Bare Midriff" and to "The Black Swan," this is for sure one of Curb's greatest seasons. And of course, the addition of the Seinfeld reunion is just the icing on the cake. Nothing better than seeing Larry get himself in all sorts of trouble, even if it's the littlest thing like him getting arrested for taking too many napkins. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This show continues to make everyone laugh with classic Larry David Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
