Dexter Morgan is a Miami-based blood splatter expert who doesn't just solve murders; he commits them too. In fact, he's a serial killer -- but he only murders the guilty, so he feels justified with his lifestyle choices. His policewoman sister and his cop co-workers have no idea Dexter lives a double life; however, adoptive father Harry knows his secret, and does, in fact, help Dexter hone his "skills." It's a unique brand of justice for which charming Dexter feels a psychological hunger.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

The inherent comedy of Miami's favorite psychopath contending with domestic bliss and the unspeakable horror of John Lithgow's Trinity killer coalesce into one of Dexter's most sensational seasons.

Audience Member This season was, in my opinion, the most underwhelming of the first half of Dexter. The initial half dragged on for FOREVER, feeling like an eternity. It was so slow-paced and unengaging to the point where I considered abandoning the show altogether. Nevertheless, perseverance paid off as I eventually found the later half of the season to be more enjoyable. Be prepared to have a long day if you decide to binge watch this season. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review Tijs v Season 4 is very solid and a worthy addition to the Dexter show. The main serial killer of this season keeps things very exciting and keeps you engaged. I didn't like the ending of this season however :( Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Craig H Might be the best season of them all along side season 1. The Trinity Killer is the shows best villain and his back and forth with Dexter is amazing. Plus the most shocking end to a TV series ive ever seen when I first saw it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review Audience Member The best season is THIS season. Season 4 is great. With amazing antagonists and lore in it. With the Trinity Killer and the return lf Frank Lundy this show is amazing. Although it takes a turn during the end where Dexter goes from somewhat happy to depressed. Although the death of Rita wasn't really needed it still was. As Dexter tries to befriend Author Mitchell in a attempt to find a way to be the perfect husband it doesn't end well with him facing the death of Rita. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/25 Full Review Vincenzo D Worst season of the whole show, I’m crushed by the ending. I wanna puke rn wth. i hope whoever wrote that has the same fate. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/05/25 Full Review Theo K Good season. Enjoyed it. Not worth all the hype tho. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/25 Full Review Read all reviews
