Is there a dyspeptic doctor in the house? Successful surgeon Dr. Martin Ellingham abruptly leaves his London practice to become general practitioner in the sleepy fishing village of Portwenn, where he spent the holidays during his youth. But his luxury car and lavish wardrobe immediately rub the locals the wrong way, and once they get a load of his abrasive attitude and lack of bedside manner, he quickly alienates most of the townsfolk.

SMH Staff Sydney Morning Herald Some of the pleasant Pommy pap we've all come to expect at this time of year. Oh, the fun we'll all have watching this mid-life crisis unfold and resolve. Feb 5, 2019 Full Review Stephanie Morgan Common Sense Media This show strikes a nice balance between humor and drama with its blend of quirky characters and medical intrigue set against the picturesque setting of Cornwall. IVORY R I loved the show i would like more of it i cant get enough .I love the location the scenery is beautiful I have been in Texas all my life but portwen would be a place I would love to go. It is just a wonderful show and the actors were magnificent I hope they decide to make more seacons. I miss aunt Joan and I wish Martin would have brought the farm for thr family/ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/25 Full Review Audience Member A great quirky British comedy series that only recently became available in North America. The cast changes a bit over the first few seasons before the series hitting its stride in Season 4. By Season 7 you might be asking yourself how come such a sleepy little town has such pressed for time inhabitants and why are they always getting so ill? But that criticism aside the character of Doctor Martin Ellingham is brilliantly played by Martin Clunes and he is sure to make you laugh out loud each episode. A great binge watchable show for COVID lockdown evenings. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I can't say enough great things about Doc Martin. You'll fall in love with all of the people from the town and even the Martin, the doc! His harsh and different personality along with his affection for someone is the perfect blend of funny and sweet. Every character has a story and is likable in their own right. The great thing for a new watcher is that there are already so many seasons! We would have to wait 2 years for each season to be released! I wish there were more episodes with each series, but this is just how the British do it. They leave you wanting more! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Super funny and tons of drama an absolute amazing TV show Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
