Caroline Siede Girl Culture (Substack) After a stellar first season and a solid, if uneven, second one, Doctor Who’s third season is a bit of a conundrum. It’s a real “best of times, worst of times” situation, with some of the most iconic episodes of NuWho sitting alongside some of its worst. Nov 26, 2023 Full Review Alasdair Wilkins AV Club That's the simultaneous thrill and frustration of watching Doctor Who: You really never, ever know where this show is going to go next. Jun 15, 2018 Full Review Ross Ruediger Slant Magazine One of the triumphs here is that the narrative finally makes some dramatic sense of Martha and where her place is in the series. Jun 15, 2018 Full Review Arnold T. Blumberg IGN Movies Simm's portrayal of the Master as a dark reflection of Tennant's manic Doctor was, if you'll forgive the obvious pun, a master stroke. Rated: 9/10 Jun 15, 2018 Full Review Alexander Joenks Pajiba The supporting cast does its usual excellent job in the third series. Jun 15, 2018 Full Review James Delingpole The Spectator Series three's final treat is that the Master is back, played this time not by the great Roger Delgado (obviously), but first by Derek Jacobi and then by John Simm. Fan O Season 3 is another brilliant season of a fantastic show. While season 1's fantastic overall storytelling got it 5 stars from me, this has some of the best individual stories, with Blink, Human Nature/Family of Blood, Smith and Jones, and it's finale. While it's less stand out episodes vary in quality, none are so boring as to lose you, and Martha never loses her charm. John Simm is a brilliant twist on the master that contrasts with Jacobi to give new fans the perfect picture of the character. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review James M Just one of the best series of all time and great new companion as well. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/25 Full Review ben s Some of the strongest episodes with only the dalek 2 parter mabye worth the skip. Tennant is fantastic as always and the ending of this series has such a good twist. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/24 Full Review Justin B As Doctor Who spins into its third season, Freema Agyeman steps up as new companion, Martha Jones and does a fine job of not just mimicking Billie Piper’s Rose. Tennant excels in this season giving his Doctor more range and more heroism but the episodes remain uneven. When season 3 is good it soars (Family of Blood, Blink) but when it falters, it fails spectacularly (Daleks in Manhattan). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/21/24 Full Review Carol P I miss you, Rose! The show isn’t the same without you. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review Sam B Was sad to see Billie Piper go in series 2. In Series 3 we are introduced to Martha Jones as the new companion. Martha is one of my favorite companions, I was gutted she only had series 3 (yes I know she came back in series 4 & Torchwood) I felt she had more to give, still does (hint RTD). As for series 1 & 2 series 3 is just perfect! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/14/24 Full Review Read all reviews
