What to Know

Critics Consensus

Despite an impressive cast and crew, Four Weddings and a Funeral falls flat, relying too heavily on genre clichés to offer audiences anything more than just another mediocre romcom.

Anita Singh Daily Telegraph (UK) We'll have to wait until later in the series to find out who gets the funeral, but on the evidence of episode one I'd be happy for the Grim Reaper to visit any of them. Rated: 2/5 Dec 13, 2019 Full Review Linda Holmes NPR Some of the pieces are there, but the satisfaction of seeing them click into place is missing. Characters meant to seem charming seem creepy, and decisions meant to seem whimsical seem destructive. Aug 3, 2019 Full Review Clémence Michallon Independent (UK) A funny, overall well-observed take on Millennial love and the toll that wedding season can take on a group of friends. Rated: 3/5 Aug 1, 2019 Full Review Brian T. Carney Washington Blade Leaden with rom-com cliches, unlikeable characters... Dec 7, 2022 Full Review James Croot The Post NZ An addictive, charming series, that once dived into, you’ll find you’ll easily polish off in just a few evenings of -- seemingly inevitable -- binge-watching. Jun 23, 2022 Full Review Natalia Trzenko La Nación (Argentina) Its greatest problem is its pretension. [Full Review in Spanish] Mar 25, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Marion R Tell me none of the writers were British without telling me none of the writers were British. Sure take a classic and take all of the culture and humor out of it. Instead give us a cheesy crappy American network TV version that no body asked for or wanted. Idk if they were trying to go for a new take a la Emily in Paris, but they could not even do that. To be honest, I only made it through episode one and halfway of the second, but friends who made it through told me it did not get better so did not want to waste my time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Jennifer Tehani S Ignore all the criticism/low ratings comparing it to the original film - this series is a more diverse, contemporary and humorous rendition, actually. This version is BETTER! It has such a charming cast led by brilliant (and very funny) writing. And to all the haters posting terrible things about this show, please know that it was MEANT to have this “Americans in London” vibe. Yay to Mindy Kaling! This was fabulous !! It was so good, I watched it again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Pete n If you're looking for a amazing shallow, Stereotypically yet unrealistic American vision of British life, then here you have it. clichéd, and all, But basically Sex and the City realism with stereotypes and generally characters so unlikeable its embarrassing. A massive waste of some genuinely great actors. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/28/24 Full Review Mana P severenda porquería, cambiaron todo lo de la película e historia original. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review whoknows w If "Four Weddings and a Funeral" was a series to begin with, it should be this one.. No it's not the same as the film and it shouldn't be! It's got it's own style, writing and feel.. it's charming, it's sad, it's funny, it's warm, it has all the feelings from the film -or "movie" if you're that person- but it's not the film! (And the acting is great.) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member OmG!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series!! I went and looked up the brilliant people behind this series, it's just such a fun, funny, positive, absolutely HILARIOUS and delicious series..I just can't get enough!!! (Best show I've watched in years..oo, since another brilliant show this year..'Lady Parts')..THANK YOU FOR THE DIVERSITY, respect and absolute hilarity. You guys are brilliant!!
