As World War II rages on, criminals try to take advantage of the resulting chaos. In Hastings, they aren't having much luck, thanks to Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle. As Foyle's son Andrew, a fighter pilot in the RAF, fights the enemy at war, Foyle battles the black market, profiteering and murder on the home front. He is dogged in his pursuit of justice, honest to a fault and frequently underestimated by his opponents. Together with his sergeant and his driver, Foyle wages his own war on crime.

It requires that viewers watch carefully, and pay attention to details. Rated: 4/5 May 19, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Theses are well done mystery's set in WW2 England. Engaging from beginning to end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I was looking for highly rated British crime dramas and saw the high ratings for this series. I really like that it is set in WWII. It is about a detective solving domestic crimes with the war in progress. It is an older style of cinematography so I had to patiently wait to be drawn into the story. It didn't take long and I have found this series to be very entertaining. It is on Acorn TV so there are four 1.5 hour shows in the first series. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Michael Kitchen is fantastic and draws you in with his somehow calculating, but warm demeanor. Anthony Howell and Honeysuckle Weeks compliment Kitchen superbly and, as a huge Downton Abbey fan, it is a real treat to see Julian Ovenden on screen who I'm hoping plays a bigger role in future seasons.
