Andre Braugher stars as Ben Gideon, the chief of experimental medicine at a prestigious teaching hospital that is often the last hope for critically ill patients. A skilled healer, Gideon has a somewhat unique bedside manner and frequently uses rather unorthodox methods to heal his patients and pass along his passion to the younger generation of physicians.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Despite Andre Braughter's killer performance as the titular doctor, Gideon's Crossing is riddled with lackluster supporting roles and weak storylines that keep it from ever waking up from its coma.

Phil Gallo Variety It's a cerebral approach to issues of healing and loss, made all the more dramatic by the presence of Andre Braugher. Sep 20, 2019 Full Review Caryn James New York Times It is clear that ''Gideon's Crossing'' is not just another hospital series. With a deep and perplexing hero, a wide social reach and uncommon eloquence, it instantly takes a place among the best dramas on television. Sep 20, 2019 Full Review Howard Rosenberg Los Angeles Times The rapid dialogue, editing and extreme close-ups of the superb actors give these and other sequences a tone of urgency that extends even through the inevitable subplots. Sep 20, 2019 Full Review Scott D. Pierce Deseret News (Salt Lake City) This new medical drama is so earnest, so sincere, so dramatic you might almost feel like you're in a real doctor's office facing a life-and-death situation. Sep 20, 2019 Full Review David Zurawik Baltimore Sun If you are a fan of Braugher's work in "Homicide" and you crave quality drama, this is a pilot you do not want to miss.
