Set in a storybook Connecticut town populated by an eclectic mix of dreamers, artists and everyday folk, this multigenerational drama about family and friendship centers around Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory. Lorelai owns the town's bed-and-breakfast, the Dragonfly Inn, with best friend/chef Sookie, and contends with weekly dinners with eccentric, well-off parents Richard and Emily Gilmore (who always have something to say about their daughter's life). After high school, Rory attends Yale University but frequently returns to Stars Hollow to visit her mom.

David Sims AV Club Gilmore Girls is much bolder, diving right back into the plots it left dangling and showing off its Stars Hollow set with a fun shot of the whole town following Lorelai and Rory as they walk to Luke's diner to break the news of her pending marriage. Sep 19, 2018 Full Review Lindsay Pugh Woman in Revolt Season 2 starts to get good when Jess deepens as a character and becomes more than just a Sal Mineo wannabe with a book in his back pocket. Oct 1, 2020 Full Review Kevin N. Laforest Montreal Film Journal This is still early in the series, good stuff, I'm thinking it's still got quite a way getting better... But I love these characters and all the banter. Sep 21, 2018 Full Review Alberto Carlos Espinof The actions and thoughts of the characters are shaped throughout the episodes and, as civilized people we are, there are springs in our head that end up activating. Adrian B Season 1 was very good, but jeez they took a dive in 2. You have Jess the dumbest most idiotic kids in town. Just saying a character is smart, but then does alot of stupid decisions reflects on the IQ of the writer. Rory the same this season, just dumb. Luke's arc is the only one that's interesting and Lorelai takes a backseat on this season. Just pure garbage. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Ali J This season was an improvement of the first season. Sure, maybe Dean became a little overprotective and clingy to Rory, and Jess kind of interfered with Rory and Dean’s relationship, but Rory also fell for Jess and pretty much neglected Dean. I don’t know whose side to be one in regards to Rory’s car crashing. I also enjoyed the relationship between Lorelai and her parents improving, with Emily choosing Lorelai’s wedding tiara, Emily paying to remove Lorelai’s termites, Lorelai and Emily in matching red clothing in the Chilton fashion show, Lorelai helping Richard hire a secretary for his work, and Richard and Emily at Lorelai’s graduation. Rory disappointed fans when she wasn’t at Lorelai’s graduation, but Rory kept denying her falling for Jess despite Lorelai mentioning it. That was my only problem with this season, along with Christopher choosing Sherry over Lorelai at Sookie’s wedding. I also liked Lorelai and Sookie’s cooperation in opening their inn. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/29/24 Full Review green eyed r Jesse Mariano oh my God. I don't need to say anything else. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/09/24 Full Review Regal R 95/100 - classic, honestly worth watching and rewatching. the banter between rori and her mother is great. edward and kelly play fantastic grandparents and such accurate portrayals of those types of characters. living in new england and attending prep school in connecticut its a spot on representation of the small town feel. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/28/23 Full Review Amber K Does the writers hate the Gilmore Girls? Two Episodes in (A year in the Life) watching with my awesome daughter. They've painted both Lorelai and Rory horribly. Come on guys, show us what we fell in love with. Rory with her ex..while he is engaged, as she hooks up with a guy she forgets she's dating? Lorelai mocking her father after him passing, still in a rocky relationship, rude to her cooks. So they both .. digressed instead or progressed? No…beloved Sookie? Happy endings needed. They need to show more heart and less tainted drama. Drama helps viewings I get it .. but at what cost? Loving the characters matters the most. That's what makes it A classic. Seeing them evolve over time. Not watching them tank the same mistakes with love and deceit. More laughs with less shocking moments would help. We're still huge fans. Hope this series improves. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/23/23 Full Review Marjorie N LOVED! this season. Jess was a great addition to the show, his wit and chemistry with rory were PERFECTION!
