Set in a storybook Connecticut town populated by an eclectic mix of dreamers, artists and everyday folk, this multigenerational drama about family and friendship centers around Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory. Lorelai owns the town's bed-and-breakfast, the Dragonfly Inn, with best friend/chef Sookie, and contends with weekly dinners with eccentric, well-off parents Richard and Emily Gilmore (who always have something to say about their daughter's life). After high school, Rory attends Yale University but frequently returns to Stars Hollow to visit her mom.

Melanie McFarland Seattle Post-Intelligencer Gilmore Girls, in spite of its undercurrent of tension and occasional eruptions of tears and anger, has always been a quickstep of spunk and wry laughs. The premiere gushes both, but there's a bitter sadness permeating [Lauren] Graham's performance. Mar 6, 2019 Full Review Gwen Ihnat AV Club Lauren Graham should just get a bizillion post-show Emmys. Sep 20, 2018 Full Review Jae-Ha Kim Jae-Ha Kim By the end of the season, one of the characters will get married, another will have an affair, and a third will have a dalliance with an ex-boyfriend. But the relationship between Lorelai and Rory remains strong. And that’s what keeps viewers watching. Rated: 3/4 Jul 29, 2023 Full Review Scott D. Pierce Deseret News (Salt Lake City) At the risk of repeating myself, "Gilmore Girls" is one of the best things on TV. Still. Mar 9, 2020 Full Review Travis Fickett IGN Movies Some may feel the "splitting up" of the Gilmore Girls hurt the show, but may find it more agreeable when the season is taken in as a whole. Rated: 8/10 Mar 9, 2020 Full Review Elisabeth Donnelly Boston Phoenix Gilmore Girls is taking a gratifying run at young-adult confusion through Rory's missteps. Smart girls flounder too. Ali J This season had a lot of events and drama. I didn’t like Rory and Lorelai’s estrangement in the first eight episodes of the season, making their reconciliation in season 6 episode 9 one of my favorite scenes in the whole show, also because that’s when Rory wants to return to Yale. I was also on Lorelai’s side in regards to dealing with the Rory situation after dropping out of Yale because she went to her parents for help, they agreed to help, but after Rory cries to Richard for what she wants, Richard and Emily immediately stab Lorelai in the back for not helping her and taking Rory in, making both Richard and Emily worse characters, in my opinion. Plenty of people despise April, Luke’s daughter, for ruining Luke and Lorelai’s relationship and engagement, but I think it wasn’t her own fault. Luke was the worst in this season because he never told Lorelai about April and Lorelai found out from April herself, Luke used April as an excuse to postpone the wedding, and Luke prevented a relationship between Lorelai and April. Luke said that everything was moving too fast and he was stressed, but if he told Lorelai about April, than he would have been less stressed because Lorelai knows how to raise a daughter by herself, and the wedding wouldn’t have been postponed. Lorelai deserves better than all this. Also, Rory and Logan’s relationship was a bit on-and-off because of how many times they broke up and got back together; also, I was on Rory’s side about Logan sleeping with those bridesmaids because I agree with her: avoiding someone and not calling them back after a huge fight isn’t a real breakup. Lane’s wedding to Zach was a bit impulsive because they’re still pretty young, and I think Lane deserves better. I also liked at the end when Emily offered to buy a house for Lorelai and Luke because she wanted to do this despite her disliking for Luke and wanted Lorelai to be happy, and Emily comforting Lorelai after she said the wedding’s not going to happen is a nice moment. I was on Lorelai’s side in her ultimatum to Luke because Luke just used April as an excuse to not marry her since he wasn’t ready for marriage and just didn’t want to tell that to Lorelai. This season was too eventful and very chaotic. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/27/24 Full Review Regal R 95/100 - classic, honestly worth watching and rewatching. the banter between rori and her mother is great. edward and kelly play fantastic grandparents and such accurate portrayals of those types of characters. living in new england and attending prep school in connecticut its a spot on representation of the small town feel. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/28/23 Full Review Emily F april comes into it in this series and is literally one of the worst characters in the show, shes annoying and like a downgraded rory. such an irritating character.
