When Eleanor Shellstrop finds herself in the afterlife, she's both relieved and surprised that she's made it into the Good Place. But it doesn't take long for Eleanor to realize she's there by mistake. She hides in plain sight from the Good Place's architect, Michael, and his all-knowing assistant, Janet. Her seemingly perfect neighbors, Tahani and Jason, and open-hearted soul mate, Chidi, help her realize that it's never too late to change. With the help of her new friends -- and a few enemies -- Eleanor becomes determined to shed her old way of life in hopes of discovering a new one in the afterlife.

Darren Franich Entertainment Weekly In its second season, it started to feel like The Good Place could do anything. Sep 4, 2018 Full Review Ellen E Jones Guardian The Good Place continues to work as a light sitcom, even as it fearlessly explores weighty philosophical conundrums and peels back the layers of liberal self-delusion. May 31, 2018 Full Review Jenna Scherer Rolling Stone The Good Place has established itself as one of the single best shows on TV today: slyly intelligent, relentlessly creative, existentially profound and consistently laugh-out-loud funny. Feb 2, 2018 Full Review Alex Diedrick Uproxx While the first season is great, a spoiler-filled twist really opens up the show's potential in its second season and carries that bold style of storytelling through to the end, complete with running Blake Bortles gags and all-knowing burritos. Nov 11, 2021 Full Review Alberto Carlos Espinof One of the most hilarious and fun comedies that exists today on TV. Thomas H Very much keeps up the pace of the first season. Very well done. Story lines are great, and still amazingly funny. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/23/25 Full Review Elena G Are you still wondering "what else could they possibly do?" because this show is doing it all! Every twist and turn is thoughtfully curated and will have you wondering how it will all come together in the end. But, unlike many other shows out there, it goes only where it needs to. The Good Place consistently highlights the tenacity of the human spirit and the desire to survive while remarking on the importance of compassion amongst everything. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Joey G This was even better than the first season, and that’s saying something because the first season was awesome! I’m excited to see what happens next! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/25 Full Review Pie S Satisfying ending for all main characters. I will definitely miss watching this show! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/18/25 Full Review August M While season two of The Good Place lacks the soundness of the narrative structure in it's first season, it is by far one of the best pieces of philosophical media of its era. Juggling concepts of the nature of true good and evil, the importance of neutrality, death and reflection, and whether there is objectivity in morality, this season comes out swinging with its philosophical ideas. Certain aspects of the choice of direction imply the hastiness of it's production, and a lack of cohesion makes it more shaky than the last season, but overall, it's still fun and humorous as always. The complexity and depth of characters truly shine as the four protagonists struggle with their identities, evolving as people, and becoming truly worthy of The Good Place. We see many pitfalls and traps that while some characters dodge expertly, others fall short only to spring back soon after. The exploration of how the improvement of society lies in the bad deeds of others to springboard off of is philosophical gold. The second season of The Good Place, while still fun, has some minor flaws that prevent it from being genuinely great, but the solid humor and philosophy make this a must watch for any looking to cut their teeth on good tv. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review Pengi V Need to rewatch, but i loved how big the world became in this season Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
