When Eleanor Shellstrop finds herself in the afterlife, she's both relieved and surprised that she's made it into the Good Place. But it doesn't take long for Eleanor to realize she's there by mistake. She hides in plain sight from the Good Place's architect, Michael, and his all-knowing assistant, Janet. Her seemingly perfect neighbors, Tahani and Jason, and open-hearted soul mate, Chidi, help her realize that it's never too late to change. With the help of her new friends -- and a few enemies -- Eleanor becomes determined to shed her old way of life in hopes of discovering a new one in the afterlife.

There's nothing like watching your favorite characters overcome a variety of challenges and come out all the better for it. The Good Place does a remarkable job of showing you exactly who each person is and who they can be under a myriad of circumstances. If the show hasn't made you cry yet, this season most likely will.

Definitely the weakest season, the third season of the Good Place finds our four protagonists in a mediocre fight for their moral standing in the universe. Being judged for actions both past and present makes for a fun watch, but the stagnant scenery being broken up only by a return to the human world makes this season an interestingly monotonous watch. The philosophical themes of whether a deed can be recontextualized as moral or immoral, and the existence of a flexible philosophy are complex, but fall short without having any bones to support it. Still funny as ever, and with new casting choices that liven up the existing dynamic, it is still worth watching. There are some particular moments that still make me laugh to this day, but others fall flat. Fun but long, this third season has its moments of good, and bad, natured fun. It's still an important watch, and has something to say that the other seasons didn't about philosophy.
